ahh, but unsaon pag "palit" if walay kwarta ky way trabaho ang mga tao. The U.S. didn't start out as a big import powerhouse you know. It became a consumer economy when the middle class expanded--you know how that happened? JOBS.

mag sige lang jud ug pataas sa value sa Peso (dili pataas ug income), while keeping the same prices? I'm afraid soon it will be beyond the Philippine economy's threshold for hyperinflation/inflation.

nag away naman nuon diri... hehe whether mo taas or moubos ang dollar, it all boils down to savings.. di lang ta mo tan aw sa karon.. ang pohon nga withdrawhonon nalang atong tan awn..

sad reality is, most of the OFW's dont have savings or assets. in fact they even confuse their liabilities as their assets .. mao inig ubos, reklamo.

and i dont get it, unsa diay sweldo sa landbased? mag depend sa exchange value sa dollar? diba inig sign nimo ug contract naka state man na didto ang value sa $ or SGD, etc.. ?

Not an expert in this field, but guys, the valuing of goods does not work that way. A 2peso pan-de-sal today will not change to 1.99peso the next day just because the dollar has weaken. If we follow that logic, prices will fluctuate in a blink of an eye each day. That is ridiculous...... It's a matter of long term effect. This is relevant to "Peso earning-Peso spending" individuals.

A "Dollar earning - Peso spending" individual will have it different way. A sudden change in dollar will alter the spending value in just a snap of a finger!

The strengthening of peso is sometimes being driven by the weakening of dollar and vice versa.

Siguro kung exported tanan natong commodities dire duna gyuy impact
pero maorag daghan man pud tingale ta ug mga locally manufactured goods.

In terms of equipments pud nga gigamit sa mga manufacturing firms
mostly ana gikan gyud sa gawas, so meaning to say they will spent dollars
to buy replacement/maintenance products para ana nga equipment
pero dili man pud na kada adlaw or kada buwan mostly tinuig man na,
Unya bahin pud sa raw materials maorag locally makuha ra tanan.

...... but let's go back to the discussion. The people in the philippines are being fooled by it's leaders, whenever there is a slight "Drama" in the middle east they would always use that as a scapegoat to increase the oil prices and the increase in price of the commodities goes along with it.

but now, they brag of a strong peso - strongest currency in asia, but we're not seeing any improvement or any decrease in prices of commodities.

all i read in this thread are people trying to act smart and sh*t, but i haven't read any explanation to what the relationship of the prices of commodities is to the dollar rate. If the prices are still the same, then the government should shut the fack up with this bragging of a bulkier peso.
Mo vary man bro ang term and conditions sa contract depends sa country of destination in terms of remuneration value as stipulated in the contract upon signing of the oFW.
Ideally, amo sweldo transfer man derecho sa bank using the local currency of the host country. Now if you are to send that money abroad aw anha na maigo sa buying and selling ron. Bisag unsa pa nga currency dili lang peso.
BItaw bro,ang nakapasipa gud aneh nga topic kay ne-focus raman gud sa OFW where in fact d raman ang OFW gyud maoy solong naapektuhan kundi ang boung madlang Pilipinas.

OT: musta sir Tirong, it's nice to have you back here.
