ClamAV.
Installed on my servers (linux). Also on my desktop (windows/linux dualboot) but on win, console mode only.
Virus signatures are updated and you can add your own virus sig/hash if naa kay nakit-an nga bag-o.
Very configurable and scriptable.
Install with Spyware Terminator for realtime protection.

Avast is actually gud. not a memory hog. but sometimes uwahi sila makaupdate sa latest viruses but still makaapas ra gihapon. you don't judge AV softwares with just basing on detection of new viruses. Try to search sa net unsay guidelines para makaingon sila na maau na AV. detection is usually the least. ky ngano? as long as cige ka update sa imu virus definitions, makadetect and heal ra gyud na most AVs given time. mao na its a matter of UPDATES ra gyud na instead of detection.
Hmmmm.... Pass!
Pero better report that to Virus Bulletin, bro, aron dili ka hambog ang avast sa ilang VB100 rating. Also to give them an opportunity to respond.
