Mantayupan falls, Barili:

Water is back, but not yet the tourists

THE FALLS BECOMES TRUE. The water flow to Mantayupan Falls in Barili town
is back to normal. Now all the town is waiting for are the tourists to come back.








Temporary solution


The detour is only a temporary solution.


Barili Mayor Teresito Mariñas earlier said that once they have completed the diversion
canal, the sinkhole will be sealed with cement as a permanent solution.


Vice Mayor Marlon Garcia said that re-routing the flow of the river will only serve as
a temporary solution and will not eradicate the problem.


He said that the municipal government should start with the source of the problem.


He asked why the cemented cover of the sinkhole, which was already there after the war, has been destroyed.


He insisted that quarrying triggered the river bed to collapse.

Yes, it could happen if the sink hole will continue to develop to a bigger one or another hole will open up.

I think they need to explore the characteristic of the sink hole and study how it behaves over time. From there, maka.create sila ug plan.

i agree! the LGU should explore the sink hole.

as i've read from "diehardbisdak" post, Vice Mayor Marlon Garcia is planning to seal again the sink hole with cement, "permanent solution" according to him!

at some point, that's a good idea...

but why not unleash the curious minds!

what i'm trying to say is, before doing a cement barriers in to the sink hole, maybe it would be a practical thing to observe and study the sink hole....

who knows, after putting barriers into the hole, it might collapse again! ... due to rapid soil/rock/land movement underneath....
