Jimskie,
I felt sorry for your loss but you can't go blaming the breeder (me) for the death of your puppy. Before you bought the puppy you were made aware that it had been vaccinated only once and that you should take it to the vet for the next shot before the recommended period lapsed, which I told you is between 2 to 4 weeks. You were also given the vaccination card and the entries therein were clearly explained to you. You were given all the necessary information that you needed to know... and it was even posted in the ads. Nobody pointed a gun at your head and forced you to buy the puppy. You were free to decide and you decided to buy it.
It was a very healthy puppy. When you took her home the responsibility of taking care of this living creature had now been laid in your hands. It was now your responsibility as the new owner that she be given all the necessary vaccinations that she needed and to make sure that she was not exposed to potential sources of diseases especially that she had not received her complete vaccinations yet.
Had you told me that you wanted it fully-vaccinated before you take it home that would have been fine with me because I have had some buyers in the past who made similar arrangements with me also. In fact, one of the 2 female puppies I have right now is already paid for and will be claimed by the buyer when it is 3 months old - at which time the puppy will have been completely vaccinated.
After the purchase you txted me because you wanted to buy the remaining puppy that I had but we were not able to make a deal because you shamelessly haggled for almost half the selling price.
Two days after that I offered to sell you the same puppy for 10k only on the condition that you get the puppy that SAME DAY for the very reason that I would be busy with some projects down south the next few weeks. I had nobody else to take care of the puppies for me since my wife is also working and my 2 helpers left a few weeks ago. Still no deal because despite the already very big discount I offered you you wanted me to complete the vaccinations as well which would defeat the reason of my selling it you at a very discounted price.
For me to complete the vaccinations means that I will have to keep the puppy for another month because these vaccines are not to be administered altogether at the same time - which means additional cost not only for the vaccines but also for food, supplements, and for the 'caregiver'.
There are costs involved in producing these puppies. Even before the mating I have already spent on supplements to condition the dam in order to improve its fertility. After whelping, the nursing dam had to be fed puppy food, milk and some more supplements. And the stud service is not for free. You know the owner of the sire. Call him and ask him how much I paid for his stud's service.
Is it wrong for me to consider these costs when I put the price tag on my puppies? I'm sure there are also certain costs that you also took into account when you posted your BM King for sale for 13K just a couple of months after you bought him for just half that price.
Pamogasay? If you're looking for charity you came to the wrong place.
You don't know me, kid. So don't judge me. Show some respect and it will be returned to you.
