it is never advisable to start a marriage with zero savings....worse to start it with a huge debt DUE to the wedding.

if you are planning to get married....you should know beforehand what your plans as a couple are when it comes to the finances....save you a lot of headaches later on.

I guess it's even worse to enter marriage with debts incurred during the single years.

    * I have a pack of sliced baguio beans here nga ni-brown na (due to oxidation man ni noh?). Before, I would just throw such food item into the kitchen trash bin. Pero karon makonsyensha na ko and ma challenge man sad, so I'm thinking of a way to salvage it. I read somewhere that one can make veggie dips out of scrap veggies. Na hala, ako ning suwayan karon. Will inform you of results after.

    Keep the tips pouring in!

I wasn't able to salvage the baguio beans...something came up and I had to go somewhere leaving me with no time for the poor beans.

But here's what I prepared this afternoon: Beefy Macaroni and Cheese. Would like to share with you the following:

*elbows macaroni - the cheapest I found in the supermarket shelves was Sunshine Elbow Macaroni at 46.20/kilo. Ideal Elbow Macaroni costs a few pesos higher but guess what, both are from the same manufacturer. The other brands cost higher.

*evaporated milk - the cheapest brand I found was Alaska at 19.65. The label says "Evaporated Creamer". I wonder if it's not the same as "Evaporated Milk", but no worries, for cooking purposes the creamer is good enough.

I couldn't find any quick melt cheese brand aside from Magnolia Quickmelt and it was priced at 53.40/200 gm. If you know of any substitute brand or product for this, please share. Thanks!

TRUE. but then if you wait till you are DEBT-FREE before you marry...naaaa dili gyud ka tingali maminyo ana.hehehehehe.

what the best is...kuwentras klaras ba...LET YOUR PARTNER KNOW HOW MUCH you owe and vice-versa. that way...you can both work towards paying them all off...what would be worse is...ADD to it by taking out a loan for the wedding...or charge so many things to your cards para lang bongga ang kasal. ano ba ang importante? di ba ang magsama kayo...more for the ginhawa...than for the hirap...? (sa hirap o sa ginhawa...alin pipiliin nyo? that is a no-brainer answer folks.)

One thing with my childhood is that no one ever taught me the value of money! i was spoiled by my grandparents and they took care of me. Now having a life of my own and not being dependent on anyone i realized that to be able to manage money you have to be frugal. Not really that kuripot though basta i dont spend on unnecessary things because sawa na ko sa material things. I learned frugality on my own specially that i have children to take care of. If frugality also means saving for the future i think i got that one squared away already and i started early in my 30s.

Let me put it this way...

Sometimes I envy people who every 3 to 5 years they swap vehicles.. upgrade their current vehicles for a new brand or a new model-type..

My parents's policy with the family vehicles is we drive them until we break them that they couldn't be driven no more that is why we have a 20 year old car and a 10 year old pick-up.

ok lang man yan...mas matipid yan in the long run really coz after 5 years...the vehicles breakdown due to age and use (or sumtyms abuse hehehehe) and MAS MAHAL NA nuon ang sige repair.

OK...KUNG...marami kang pera at afford mo ang ganun. pero kung maamping pud ka sa mga cars ug iba ang priorities mo...naku basta serviceable pa...hala andar! hehehehe

there are people i know that hala sige upgrade...pero lumalaki ang utang nila sa bank. probably your parents are more liquid than these people. di asset ang sasakyan hehehehe. pambutas bulsa. in fact...as soon as you drive it out of the compound or sales area...it depreciates already hehehe.

kami nga...old na rin mga sasakyan...di ka-afford to buy a new one eh. hahahahahaha

yeah same here practical sab ko.

I dont understand that kind of living. Why force it? Kung wala, wala. That's where you get into trouble when you try so hard to be like one of the Jonesses and live up to that kind of life but you dont have the means. Its not good. Dapat you live within your means lang. No trying hard elsewhere to get money for something that you might not even need kundi ka pritso lang. Everytime you go out there and buy something always think...is it a want or a need? There is a big difference in the two. If its a need, buy it. If its a want, drop it you can do without it.
