If you check out their charts you can see that those stocks are rising or performing very well.

But If your into long term investing I suggest stick to those stocks with very good fundamentals. Stocks I can suggest are EDC, FGEN, FPH, SECB, EEI, and MWC.

To: vondave - what other stocks you can recommend that are good for investment?
Thanks ... you're right the financing industry is performing well...

which stocks in the market right now are best for trading:
    1) Food industry ...?
    2) Petroleum and gas industry ...?
    3) Banking industry ...?

In past, Petron stocks were the best but as of today their stock came downhill ... not good for trading..

any suggestion, based on your experiences...
First I trade the US markets but trading is trading. If you are a long term investor, define the portfolio you want to build...Growth vs Hi dividend yield stocks or both then there's the large cap and small cap. There are a lot of factors to choose, if you know how to read a balance sheet then go ahead but past performance doesn't guarantee future outcomes. Then there are others who do the simple stuff...They just look at the product their selling, if they like it they add it. Then, you have to diversify to reduce risk but don't overdo it.

Then as for day trading/swing trading, any market whether it's on an uptrend or a downtrend, you can still make money. If it is in a weak sector then short it and if it is strong, then buy. One situation for this is the NYSE:BP which just had a nasty oil spill sa gulf coast, should I stay away from this stock? No...I bought OTM put options (similar to shorting a stock) and gain a big chunk profit for just 1 min clicking to enter and another for covering... Don't understimate people's Fear and greed.

I agree that it was a bloodbath the past days. But it is also a very good opportunity to buy more shares on blue chip stocks.

Anyway, I'm expecting some market rebound tonight or next week for the DJI, as indicated by its RSI near the oversold area and last nights bullish hammer candlestick pattern. Aside from that our PSE is still bullish despite the big drop on the US market the past weeks. This can simply indicate that our local market is not that very dependent to the US market anymore.
