@salma: hi there! yes the scenarios discussed here will definitely sound like that novel. why? because if you look inside the back cover of that book, you will see the references of mr. sheldon...records of similar incidents and accounts in the US.

    @ SPRINGFIELD_XD_4 Walay HUMMER H2 back in 1997

thanks for the info brod I really admire your concerns, but as far as 1969 naa napud SMS oR Text adto nga time which was developed and used by the US Navy Seals..... until how many years after pa nato nagamit sa civilians nga maka text, just like the Stealth Bomber which was the Top secret before as early as 1970s ila lang gipagawas anG SR-71 Blackbird Reconaisance Aircraft. so there is possibility na naa pud H2 hummer as early as 1987 kay ilang gipagawas ang humvee during gulf warwhich was 1990s.

Thanks bro sa imo reactions....PEACE bro.....

    Abstract:

The forests present a very crucial factor in the lives of the Pteridophytes since they provide shelter and support for these plants. The occurrence of a rich flora in Mindanao is due to the orests in the area and the relatively high elevation of the place. However, with the alarming rate by which our forests are being denuded and destroyed, many species of pteridophytes become rare, endangered, threatened and depleted.

Field collection trips were conducted to the different forests of Mt. Kitanglad, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon; Mt. Apulang, Imbayao, Malaybalay, Bukidnon and Marilog Forests, Bo. Baganihan, Davao. From each forest area, pteridophytes species were collected, identified and described. Likewise, ecological data were gathered such as temperature, altitude, monthly rainfall, soil pH and organic matter content.

The results showed that Mt. Kitanglad had the highest pteridophyte species diversity with 275 species, followed by Mt. Apulang with 231 species and Marilog Forest with only 165 species. Furthermore, the status of the pteridophytes was determined and asswessed based on the IUCN's definition. It was found out that there were 65 economically important, 82 endemic, 31 rare, 8 depleted and 1 endangered species growing in these three forest areas. Likewise, it was observed that Mt. Kitanglad and Mt. Apulang had endangered pteridophyte, Tmesipteris lanceolata Dang, and they contain many rare and endemic species as compared to Marilog Forests.

The ecological data revealed that Mt. Kitanglad and Mt. Apulang has more acidic soils and high (%) organic matter content than in Marilog Forest. It was also noted that Mt. Kitanglad and Mt. Apulang had lower day and night temperatures than in Marilog Forest. In Marilog Forest, the temperature has increased every year, from 1991 to 1993 which may be attributed to the cutting of trees and shifting cultivation practiced in the area. The rainfall data showed that Mt. Kitanglad had the highest amount of rainfall followed by Mt. Apulang and least amount was recorded in Marilog Forest. It was also noted that Mt. Kitanglad had the highest altitude which is 2,700 m. asl. at its peak; Mt. Apulang is 2,350 m. asl. while Marilog Forest is 1,290 m. asl.

High pteridophyte species diversity in Mt. Kitanglad and Mt. Apulang would be attributed to some favorable conditions such as high altitude, high soil organic matter, low temperature and high amount of rainfall. However, with the expanding camping sites at the mid-montane forest portion of Mt. Kitanglad and the on-going shifting cultivation in Mt. Apulang put these diverse pteridophytes put to a constant threat which might reduce species diversity. Moreover, there is an urgent need to conserve the pteridophyte flora and their habitats or else these species will become extinct.

hehehe bai ... never naay H2 ang MILITARY because the H2 was manufactured by GM for the sole purpose of letting the civilians experience what is an H1 with of course a lesser power and engine size and more comfort because it was meant for citi driving and not like the H1 for offroading . Yes naay H1 and it is very famous in Operation Desert Storm but H2 is not till lately .

Mas possible pa mo ingon ta ug naay H1 na sa Korean War n Vietnam War .

The history Of the HUMMER begins in 1979 with competition for the development of a vehicle to meet the Army's highest standards in a High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV). As that development race began, Teledyne and Chrysler Defense (later sold to General Dynamics) already had designs on their drawing boards. The proposed Chrysler vehicle was an adapted version of the Saluki desert design. while its Teledyne counterpart sprang from the design of a vehicle known as the Cheetah. Though AM General appeared to be well behind the others, the company moved into this competition with no preconceived design notions, rolled up its sleeves, and soon created an original -- the HUMMER.

AM General's prototype HUMMER went to test in the Nevada desert in July 1980 -- only eleven months from its design board beginnings. This was the first of many breakthroughs that demonstrated the company's know-how and leadership. The Army now had three serious competitors with vehicles under test.

The Army's formal procurement of test vehicles began in February 1981. Six proposals came in from industry and were evaluated against the Army's HMMWV specifications. The three most responsive designs were selected, and in June 1981 contracts were awarded to General Dynamics, Teledyne and AM General. The test vehicles to be acquired from each company included TOW Carriers, Cargo Troop Carriers and Mini and Maxi Ambulance variant.

Army specs were extremely stringent with demands for light armor, deep water fording capability, and Arctic and desert operational ability to name just a few, as well as absolute reliability, durability and maintainability, Vehicle weight constraints called for material application breakthroughs. All of this and just ten months to do it --still another set of challenges for AM General.

Once again AM General proved its mettle when it became the first company to complete its test vehicles. Prototype HUMMERs were delivered to Army proving grounds at Aberdeen and Yuma, and to a test site at Fort Hunter-Liggett in April 1982.

The Army's test phase was scheduled over a five month period after which a call for production proposals would be made from the competing contractors. AM General took that in stride as its HUMMERS were the first vehicles to complete durability testing. The company also came through the rigorous testing with the lightest vehicles and high performance ratings. Clearly, the HUMMER HAD scored as the superior technical offering.

Following AM General's production proposal, these "superior' vehicles were finally awarded the initial HUMMER production contract in March 1983, calling for 55,000 vehicles to be delivered over a five year period.

From tooling up time at AM General's Mishawaka plant to delivery of the first production test vehicles took just six months -- another remarkable achievement for AM General.

With the marketing of the civilian HUMMER, AM General opens the newest and brightest chapter in its history. The world's most durable and most serious 4 x 4 is ready to stretch the American drivers' work and pleasure experience -- for years and years to come.

In December of 1986 AM General sold the Hummer name and the rights to market and distribute Hummer vehicles to General Motors. AM General will continue to Build the original Hummer (now called H1) at the Mishawaka plant. AM General will also build the Hummer H2 in a new state of the art manufacturing facility adjacent to the HMMWV/H1 plant.
