    an Istoryan friend told me that ..... he is an NVIDIA pro gyud.... but for now he said that ATI HD5XXX series is the most PRACTICAL for now...

    Enthusiasts are not practical people finaancially speaking.... but i respect their passion for performance.. money down

    thats fair enough....

    based on a friend's experience na, kay based on iya sulti mo patak gud og 8k to 10k iya monthly electric bill months ago, reklamo gyud siya kay lisod apas gyud,

    imagina kaha pila iya kilowatt hour consumption with this pc set up 1 pc with core i7 920 oc to 4 ghz, sli gtx 295, 1 pc crossfire 4890 with phenom 965 oc to 3.8 ghz, 1 pc with gtx 285, 1 pc with gtx 275, 1 pc with hd 4870, dungan andar na sila murag electric fan ang metro sa kuryente

    how much more if sli gtx 480 pa, now tell me di ba noticeable ang power consumption?

    pag dispose sa uban pc with that kind set up niya mo palo na lang 5k something iyang electric bill
    ma notice pa diay nimo if you have 1000W with different Cards?

    @aparach, Sorry power consumption and temperature matters!

    you should look at this POLL from the following websites:
    Source: Is GTX 480 / Fermi a game changer for you? - techPowerUp! Forums

    View Poll Results: Is GTX 480 / Fermi a game changer for you?
    Yes, competition is great for the customer: 705 - 9.73%
    I can't pick a clear winner: 256 - 3.53%
    I got tired of waiting and bought an ATI card: 946 - 13.06%
    Power/Heat/Noise is important, no Fermi for me: 3,698 - 51.05% ~~ WINNER
    I'm happy with what I have: 1,097 - 15.14%
    I'm going to buy one: 298 - 4.11%
    Yes, it's the better card: 241 - 3.33%

    Source: Will you be buying a GTX 480? - bit-tech.net Forums
    View Poll Results: Will you be buying the GTX480?
    Yes: 9 - 4.17%
    Yes, if the future drivers boost the performance: 10 - 4.63%
    No, it's too expensive/hot/power hungry: 75 - 35.185% ~~ WINNER TIE
    No, I've been waiting for Fermi and now I'll buy a 5870: 45 - 20.83%
    No, I'll stick with my old card for a while yet: 75 - 35.185% ~~ WINNER TIE

    ~~~~
    Although if you have the money, you can pretty much lower the temperatures via Water-Cooling of course. But it still going to cosume tons more power!
    based on a close friend's experience and based on what amoa gi discuss yes na notice gyud niya maski with many different cards
    he sold 1 gtx 295, before pa gane iya gibaligya, iya gitangal, wala na siya nag SLI, naka notice gyud siya,
    gi try man gane kato ra pc nag andar, mas kusog pa sa ref nga 2 doors tuyok sa metro
    hatag lang ko sample para to shed light about ani power consumption factor
    and base on andz post, it really has a significance, if i were to ask you tagaan teka og fermi example lang ha, ipa SLI pa gyud nako for sure imo dawaton gyud na pero akoa tan aw sooner or later moreklamo gyud ka sa imong bill ana puhon, chances are ibaligya pa gane siguro nimo imagine if mag game ka ana 1000 watss imo total system unit power consumption
    e equate na convert na 1000 watts to kilowatts, tapos multiply to hour of usage, tapos tan awa ang per kilowatt hour charging sa VECO
    anyway, why spend like 10k for your power bill if u can have some ways to lower it down and spend that extra cash on other important things.....
    if only kita tanan diri, anak pang villar, gibo, gloria, noy noy, kana wala tay concern ana, bahala 3 ways SLI nga fermi pa,
    but thats not the reality
    lol jokes hehehehe
    lisod man gud ang mindset sa uban diri, puro ra kusog mao ni mao na, pero sila mismo dili mopalit
    hahaha, unsaon pod,
    more on ari na ko sa reality man gud, been there, my friends has been there,
    guess what unsa ila comment " they learned a lesson the hard way" ako sad the truth hurts hahahaha
    I agree with the majority that we should consider a system's temp and power consumption. If I had extra money to spend on, I'd rather spend it on COOLING my system rather than HEATING it up even more.
    gubota na ani uy, what i meant with the power consumption is that ang mga mupalit aning gtx480 or bisan 5970, mao ning mga tawhana nga di na mo mind sa ilang power consumption considering nga maka afford sila ana nga card paired with high-end system pa jud so power is not an issue to these people. i believe that's what aparach meant as well.
    you really don't know jud, not everyone is like that lagi. People say im rich? because i can afford this things ? YET i still find consumption and temperature very important.
    I know all my high enthutiast customers who buys this expensive parts, still think of power consumption and heat very important.
    Nganu kaha mo ask pa ang customer bisan DATO kaau, bisan MILLIONAIRE, they would ask me this specific question "dako ni sya consumption bai? dili kaha ta mo matay ani sa bill sa kuryente?"
    mao lagi na akong giingon nga dili na pure ang imong perspective kung apilon na nimo ang lain factors. what i'm saying is that kung ang scenario ganahan jud kaayo ko ani nga card, then i wouldn't mind with the power consumption. let's not use real life examples or the majority of the consumers kay dili siya applicable sa akoang point. if i want an awesome performing card (as far as tesselation is concerned) and i can afford it; all other factors go out the window. <removed para dili opensib>
    edit: dili daghan tawo ingon ani pero you have to admit, naa jud.
    edit2: speaking of which; mao ni sila akong giingon nga either die-hard nvidia fans, hardcore enthusiasts, collectors or very rich kids with deep pockets ang mopalit ani. sa lain pagkasulti, para sa mga gods ra, kita mga mere mortals would start taking in power consumption, temperature, and the overall bang for your buck.
    exactly mao pod ni akoa point, usually if kita mopalit pc for everyday usage man gud na nato, if it would have been for epeen (wa ko ka gets wat exactly ni) or pogi points, mo test and bench ra ta tapos post, brag, then sell that part, hehehe
    imagine having a high powered sports car here in our place, do you think di ka patyon sa maintenance? nagkamahal raba gasolina, hehehe well if normal nga auto lang imo gamit mo serve ra gihapon sa iya purpose at a lower maintenance cost
    trust me maski kana gyud maka afford naa sakto budget mo ingon man gane gyud " ahh kamahal sad ana oi"
    follow up daun nag kaya ra man paliton, pero tan aw nimo worth it ba na in the long run?
    agree gyud ko ani kay sir andz
    pero overall basta dato nga dato sa tanang dato mo FERMI gyud inyoha hehehe
