I have a hard time convincing a friend of mine coz I was discouraging him on using a digital guitar multi-effects pedal.

I'm not really sold out about this idea. I personally consider this as just a marketing strategy from the makers of this digital gizmo. I think every guitar amplifier has it's own effects, so what you basically need is just a foot switch.

Music geniuses such as the Mighty K.C. or better known as Kurt Cobain only uses a single distortion pedal. In the case of Hendrix, a dist pedal and a Wah. Joe Satriani uses several single pedals, but never a multi-effects gadget.

It is a trend nowadays that it should be a necessity for a guitar player to own a multi-effects pedal. I hope we all should be wise and not to buy on this concept. I think a footswitch should be enough for you to be able to play a killer riff.
