@topic - depends on the board and like what poldo have said - you need active cooling if lagpas nakas rated voltage spec.

    OT:

fan baia ko ninyo dmelsie, poldo, andz,ce tungod ninyo nakat-on kog OC og uban pang mga eng eng..heehehe sorry for the term.... - basta d lang jud mag groupie love kai lain na kaayo na...hahahaha

curious lang ko ani, i don't have in-depth knowledge about OC, mind elaborating the reason behind - why is it better from 667 to 800 oc than 800 to 800++ oc? i thought higher is better to begin with.

    thank you in advance.

PRICE my friend! DDR2 667 is cheaper than DDR2 800 and wouldn't it be nice if your 667 will be running the speed of 800 mhz? be aware though that on some cheapo rams you may need to loosen timings to compensate for the increased in frequency

price? they're practically same price at most stores. i thought the 800 to 800++oc gives a better latitude to oc'ing (just my thinking). that's why i'm curious to hear regilsolon's reason to his statement. i simply just want to learn.

some brands like kingston and apacer cost the same but prices for the brands that most enthusiasts prefers (ddr2 800/1066) just went up! around 15-30 % more than the 667 depending on the latency.

Kingston and Apacer's 667 and 800 could be the same price because they might be exactly the same except the 800 is clocked higher with looser timings I could be wrong though but who knows I have no personal experience with these RAMs yet.

what exactly do you mean by latitude in oc'ing? did you mean that it would be easier for a ddr2 800 to reach or pass 1000 mhz mark? than a ddr2 667? if that's the case then i will say YES

ah mao ba bro. wala man gud ko pay attention ana mga enthusiast's pc parts kay mahal man gud i know. kingston value ram user ra gyud ko . i want to learn mga light oc'ing lang as of now, kana on stock parts lang/ on air & i asked the question for my understanding.

right bro, in that context na ang 800 can give us better headstart on the fsb front - again, as my understanding, which maybe wrong .

    thanks bro!

thing with value rams is that they'd better be run close to their rated speed else you will encounter instability when overclocked. Most if not all value rams do not have heat sinks and heat will be a problem because dram voltage might needed to be increased as you increase dram frequency above rated speed to regain stability.

Suggest to keep fsb and dram frequency in sync or 1:2 multi as you overclock the processor. With stock cooling on air I don't think you will be able to reach very high fsb anyway so temperature will be your limiting factor.

    happy overclcoking

now i know why naa mahalon rams ug naa sad baratuhon, pang oc diay. anyways, dili man ko gamer & wala pud ko budget ana enthusiast's parts, so light squeeze lang akoa out of my mb/proc/ram combo para ma speed up a little bit if i can. right now, okey rako sa on air na from 2.8GHz to 3.5Ghz, fsb increase lang and from 1.8 to 1.92 Vram increase, slight ram oc lang from 800 to 832, everything else normal. mao ra stable settings ako na easily attained, other than that mo reboot na. wala nako manghilabot sa Vcore ug uban pa kay dili ko kabalo na nya contento na lang sad ko sa 3.5G . wala pud ko plans to buy/replace any parts na pang oc.

thanks for bearing w me centax, so helpful of you thank you.
