    try also

    metz
    sigma
    vivitar 285hv

there's also a new firmware update on nissin di622 flashes that can be triggered off cam

i think the nissin di622 upgrade is not for triggering offcam because it can already be triggered offcam using optical TTL. the upgrade is to enable support for radio triggers like flashwave, pt-04, etc.

ma off-cam ang nissin man guro if naay commander function ang camera like sa D80 ug D90. pero since D40 man among camera sa TS, dili mi maka trigger sa Nissin using our built-in flash. mao kailangan namo ang radio triggers para magamit off-cam i think same ni sa case for D3000 ug D5000, not sure. hehehe.

Nissin Di622 user here. So far happy with it. Flash recycles at around 4 to 6 seconds depending on the charge status of my batteries. I use eneloops and they work fine. I was able to use 4 batts for the entire wedding reception. As for recycle times, I think even the canon or nikon flashes have the same recyle time sa nissin. Cycle time can only be kept minimal if you use a separate power source but if batteries lang, mo hinay gyud siya eventually. Not possible with the nissin di622 though.

Off camera wise, its ok for my use. It can be triggered optically if you don't mind going back and forth adjusting your flash manually. I just cover the popup camera to minimize the light spilling into my subject but enough light to spill to the sensor on the flash and trigger it. Yeah hasol, but I'm still ok with this for now. But once you get used to the flash, you can pretty have much an idea what value to set and if I need to adjust, I just adjust my aperture. Sayang lang I have the canon mount and like they mentioned, wala pa daw firmware update para ma gamitan ug triggers. Naa man mod video tutorial available in youtube, but this method voids the warranty and not easy.

My flash is still mga 1 month + old so I can't give any feedback as to the durability of this flash over long periods of use.

Nissin di866 ma trigger na via nikon CLS. It cost somewhere P15k, around the same price of SB600 but at the performance of SB900, well, that's what users say, or maybe around the same performance of a SB800? If you want to try this out with your D90, Hayj has one. Ask him to bring it next photo walk and try it. It worked flawlessly with his D80 during the wedding we shoot together, just make sure your in line of sight of the sensor. He used it during the dress up sa hotel, flash mounted on a light stand with shoot through umbrella and the second time was at the church where we just mounted it on a light stand near the altar to light up the couple and the altar and hayj and I were just standing far away. (ok raman sa pari hihihi ).
