bai agree ko nga 90% sa davelopment sa eskrima kay tungod sa mga moro pirates and i think that eskrima is in tribal origin kay based on what my granduncle told me that eskrima is found only in coastal areas in cebu espescially my mother's hometown tuburan which was frequently raidded by moros during the last years of spanish occupation wala silay forts didto kay ang daang lungsod is protected by eskrimadors from negros occidental,iloilo,sogod,danao and nearby immigrants and pioneers from north and south and i know one eskrimador who still practices the old eskrima it is a castillo an uncle of my granduncle which is a mananambal in daang lungsod.

Tuburan played a vital role in the war against the Americans...and YES there are probably more eskrimadors in Tuburan per square kilometer than any other town in northwest Cebu!!

During the American campaign to retake tuburan from General Maxillom (a native Tuburanon) the Americans hired Panay Scouts and Moro mercenaries. There is a group there that call themselves the XRX Self-Defense Club.

Its last remaining masters like Juanito "Tang Nitoy" Tabotabo and Pedro Domecillo passed away two years ago. I've had the privilege to see this two gentlemen a long time ago. The only authentic practitioner of XRX Eskrima that traces its lineage to a certain Carlos Samolde of Negros Oriental is Emilio "Ting Melio" Maxilom Castro. He's just around the poblacion and it's easy to locate him. Cheers!

Naa man gud ko kaila nga taga UP nga passionate kaayo about using the word eskrima when it comes to stick fighting in the philippines. Ok baya iyang idea nga tungod gikan gyud daw ang arnis sa cebu. Pero I think na sobrahan ra siya kadtong ni propose na siya nga mo suwat ni then president estrada ug mag setup ug banners sa colon area. Pag ingon niya nako nga magpatabang siya nako, nag palayo ko niya gamay. Ok baya unta iyang aim, basta dili lang himoon nga mura na siya mag strike diha sa colon. Maayo gani gipa larga to siya sa US.

Ha, ha,ha!! I'm passionate about eskrima but not as crazy as the one you mentioned here. bitaw back in college (USC bitaw ko), naa sad koy kaila nga Yoga nerd sad to siya, everytime i see him paningkamot ko nga chics among istoryahan but then, he'll always manage to veer the topic to Yoga and the other esoteric arts. Sunud naku nahibaw-an, wa na tua na pud siya sa Hare Krishna...same thing, ako lang gihapon ang iyang "harrasson" ug istorya parteg Hare Krishna, I was probably his only audience and listener. Lami na unta likayan, pero luoy man, sometimes I'd try to deviate the topic like telling him: "pre mangabang ta sa Junquera!" Binoang ra gud, pero I get a litany of spiritual, zen, oriental mysticism lecture about the evils of earthly desires. Ataya sad oy! Pero gi agwanta lang gihapon naku!

It's really pathetic, kay guys like this you know, dili na lang ko mag mention ug names, but I guess they're having a hard time dating girls and getting laid! I'm not attempting any psychoanalysis here, pero , yes I know a lot of people who are so fanatical with their martial arts and metaphysical discipline they'd go to great lengths -like a strict vegetarian diet, meditation for three hours, sleep early wake up early to meditate again, punch the makiwara until their hands bleed, shy away from girls(piskot dili KO MABUHI ANA oy, bahala nag way eskrima or kung fu! soloha!)
