Just curious....what are your reasons for wanting to move to Australia? lifestyle? healthcare benefits?
    I bet it's not salary.

I think there are still some schools where you can get a nursing degree in just 2 years... and even less if you know who to approach and if you have the money. Even heard before that it's possible to have a TOR which shows you finished the course in 4 years even if you only took it for 2 years. I believe NZ and Australia are aware of this that's why they're now strict. You just can't put a patient's life in the hands of a nurse who lacked formal training.

my suggestion to nurses who are planning to migrate to NZ is to complete the NZ Nursing registration requirements first while still in the Phils. Never go to NZ without getting a letter from the nursing council inviting you to take the CAP. Don't trust the agencies. Some of the nurses can't even register because they can't pass the IELTS exam administered in NZ. It's much more difficult to pass IELTS in NZ than in the Phils. Probably because Filipinos are used to american english accent. In NZ, best is pronounced as "beast". Schedule is "shedule", etc...

Most of my family side are there...but best reason is LIFE, a relatively balanced way of life. i know there are differences in US healthcare like it is easier for us to go directly to a specialist with the kind of insurance system we got unlike NZ, Australia and other European countries that they wud mostly require referrals first from their GPs before they can see a specialist! But i think, these countries are starting to allow changes already as time goes by. unlike b4 my time when i was working in Netherlands...

Salary? to be honest, US dollar value has not been performing well so far and i believe salaries in OZ and NZ is competitive somehow. we have doctors and colleagues that relocated and they mentioned there's not much of a difference at all. it all even out with the taxes we pay!

i just really want to have a gud happy life for our family!!!

    Good choice then.

The big difference is that you can get free medical services in Australia and NZ just like in Canada. If you're a resident or citizen in Australia or NZ, you don't have to pay for checkups, ultrasound.... and there's absolutely no fees involved when giving birth. You'll even get frequent visits at home to make sure your baby's getting the right care and support. In US, it's a must to have an insurance.

Just want you to know that some of the nurses in NZ are moving to Australia because of salary. It's true that salary is a bit higher in Australia than NZ and there are more opportunities there.

Odd to american pips, this is the kind of health care system Pres. Obama is trying to copy for US and the congress as well as senate is still on debate on this. Though he is not trying to wipe out the old insurance system BUT pipol are labeling it as the "socialist" way of govt. i dont know with this pipol...when someone is trying to make change, they r against it! if one doesnt want to do anything they too complain!

BUANG gyud ug utok...mga feeling great man gud! mau unta kung great lang gihapon! i dont care what they are going thru now, as long as I AM GOING TO HAVE A LIFE...I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST! not this way...

I am after Australia's vacation benefits that is just balanced out with their working hours!!! in this way, our LIFE is far better than here in america. I still believe in the basics of human psychology..."when one is happy within...one can perform best!!!"

I've watch a documentary about the American health care industry and HMO scams. Not sure if you've seen it but it's really an eye-opener.

The documentary is entitled SICKO -> Sicko (2007)

I'm going to be a nurse soon. My mom wants me to. Para nako mas okay na na cya, kaysa mamaligya ko ug drugas. I personally have no plans for my life, my Mom has one. Well, good luck nako!
