nice strategy for the local officials of that town. but judging from the exchage rate, medyo mahal ra jud for a kilo of plastic. im sure for every kilo the town buys it is subsidizied either from local budget or from foreign aid. so its not for a long term sustainability, if wala subsidy, stop pud ang program ana.

if mao ra jpn na ang buying rate sa plastic dra s Leyte, then we should ship our plastic here to Leyte, then become millionares hehehehe joke only.

If I'm not mistaken Brgy. Luz has implemented a similar program. And yes the outcome is also similar if not better. We were there last July 24,2010 as part of our environmental law class for the orientation of what brgy. Luz has been implementing to be ecologically sustainable while being lucrative at the same time for the inhabitants of the sitios that comprise the whole barangay.

Also, did you know that Brgy. Luz is also partnered with Ayala Center Cebu, they manage the waste from the mall and segregate it and sell it. Most of the personnel that work there are also from Brgy. Luz.
