Question: How can you tell if its a star in the sky at nighttime?
Answer: There are many objects in the sky at nighttime that glow; however, a star twinkles. Hence, if it twinkles, then certainly, it is a star.
These are my generic interview questions... I normally use this as a guide, but I don't necessarily ask all of these questions. Depends on the applicant, or the questions answered. hehehe
Interview Questions: Work History
- Name of company, position title and description, dates of employment.
- What were your expectations for the job and to what extent were they met? (I'd prefer specific ones over general idea)
- What were your responsibilities? (Highlight critical areas of responsibility, quality over quantity)
- What major challenges and problems did you face? How did you handle them? (Helps me find out how you handle stress, determine your problem solving skills, and how you go about creating solutions or alternatives)
- Which was most / least rewarding?
- What was the biggest accomplishment / failure in this position? (Helps me what motivates or discourages you)
- What was it like working for your supervisor? What were his strengths and shortcomings? (Be professional when you answer this question, it shows how you handle different kinds of people on the job)
- Why are you leaving your job? (Be honest on this, when can find out whether you are or not)
Job Interview Questions About You
- Describe a typical work week.
- How many hours do you normally work?
- How would you describe the pace at which you work? (Helps me determine how you go about your tasks)
- How do you handle stress and pressure? (Helps me determine how much or how soon I can assign new tasks to you)
- What motivates you? (be specific)
- What are your salary expectations? (Again, be specific)
- What do you find are the most difficult decisions to make? (Helps me determine the level of complexity you are capable of)
- Do you prefer to work independently or on a team? (There's no right or wrong answer, just be honest)
- What type of work environment do you prefer?
- Describe a difficult work situation / project and how you overcame it. (Tells me about your achievements)
- How do you evaluate success? (Helps me tell what kind of motivation you need)
Job Interview Questions About the New Job and Company (Always do research beforehand, find out what the company is, and where it is heading. Remember, you want to impress your interviewer for that 2nd or final interview)
- What interests you about this job?
- Why do you want this job?
- What applicable attributes / experience do you have?
- What do you know about this company?
- Why do you want to work here?
- What challenges are you looking for in a position?
- What can you contribute to this company?
- Are you willing to travel?
- Is there anything I haven't told you about the job or company that you would like to know?
Interview Questions: The Future (Just be honest on this set of questions. A potential employer is looking for applicants that are in-line with what the company's vision is.)
- What are you looking for in your next job? What is important to you?
- What are your goals for the next five years / ten years?
- How do you plan to achieve those goals?
