taste them all and savor, evaluate your ability to learn on each language then relate it back to your goal. sky rocketing your learning curve is simply selecting a language that's near to your heart. don't go for the trend this time, and probably as your skill mature then it's up to you to go forward or remain still and become a guru with that particular strength.

i don't recommend any programming language. the method i used wasn't plebeian within the programming community but rather commonly used with people that study ergonomics.

i don't want to argue with you. do you mind reading the first paragraph and coined it to the next paragraph? obviously, i don't want to measure my cognition with you but if you insist then let us start another topic.

I would say, you use for the beginning, during the learning process, a language like VB or Delphi.
Once you got the logic behind programming, you can easily change to any language you like.
But, the language depends on what you goal is, like application programming, game programing etc.

I used to write codes using the assembly language, and then the C language, and then Java, then VB/C#/etc. Now, I can write almost any king of programming language. You just need to have a firm grasp on how the entire machine works. If you want to be able to develop any software, down from the driver layer, to services and application layers, it is better to start from the lower levels.

Actually, this is architecture dependent. The first might be faster on the Intel architecture but not on other architectures. And finally, it also depends on the compiler you are using and if the compiler writer is taking advantage of architecture-specific oddities in his code.
