not all women enjoy shopping (well, the majority do). the places i frequent in ayala are the National Bookstore, the restaurants/food court, and the Comfort Lounge! that tells a lot about what i like to do noh? read, eat, and...no, i don't pee that often but I like to just sit and relax in the lobby of Comfort Lounge. So guys, if there's a place where I can browse or read books for a fee (not buy) and/or eat and/or relax/take a nap, i would be its first customer. kung wala jud ni, then siguro mag open ko ani nga negosyo. calling the attention of potential investors....

Of course, this means that books would have to be male oriented (and I don't mean girly magazines) but rather business books, computer books, military history, etc.
Yep, I agree. Less traffic man gud for that market (i think) sa mango square. And I guess it really doesn't have to be male-oriented.. balance lang gud for both gender ... and yeah, maybe we should think about putting up somethin like that...plus butangan nato hotzone para istorya lang gihapon!! hehehehehe

    too bad...

a friend was just telling me about Borders... a cafe somewhere in the us... where you get the same format... coffee and books and magazines... tons of 'em...
    in short... heaven

i hope some other entrepreneur tries this out again and succeed... dont forget the comfortable furniture
Borders & Barnes and Noble offer the same service as intelleto plus it's also a bookstore. I've been wanting to open a store just like that for a long time but lisod man kay tihik man ang pilipino. they'd rather shell out money on clothes and gimiks than on good books. Goes to show where our priorities are.

I also think they added the internet service because they can't depend on the books alone.

@simoen: Plus, it's a matter of time before Fully Booked opens here (hopefully, no pun intended).

I was able to visit Fully Booked Mall of Asia branch and they have lots of titles jud--as in naglaway jud ko! I didn't see a lounge; kadto na sigurong cafe? I would love to see a bookplace where the lounge is large enough to hold "book club get-togethers" (ala Oprah book club), so that it won't be just a store but a meeting place. Filipinos may not like to read much but we like to hold get-togethers, so one way to generate sales is thru membership fees. The "lifestyle" concept has been very much accepted by Cebuanos, an example is the fact that we don't go to Bo's just to drink coffee but to meet friends and have a good time.

Anyway, a business plan / feasibility study is needed. But kung gut feeling lang, feeling nako mo click man ni, dili lang jud dayun. As with any pioneering concept, it'll take time for people to embrace it. If naay willing and able to invest in this type of business, please introduce yourself. Might be the right time to work on this.

Where would be a good place to locate a private (pay by the hour) library? How about near a high traffic gym/fitness center, near a school, or near where there are call centers.

Why kind of books do you think a place like this should a place like this carry? Used business books, self help books, novels?

hi, mazinger! kung sa ako lang, i'll go to where that place is as long as it's in the city where i live and is accessible. the books you carry will determine the kinds and number of future patrons! so i suggest all kinds of genres if the place can hold it. go for used books for reading/browsing. then have some new stocks for sale. see, it won't just be a library but a bookstore as well. and don't forget the lounges for the bookclub get-together.

are you the business angel that i have been praying for?
