how couldn't I? ...c'mon, Apple could have tested that god d***n 8600M over and over again before dropping it on the MBPand releasing it to the market for the consumers. It's their product,it's their name on the line and it's their responsibilty to QC the suppliers in order to protect the consumers. I paid over 150K + cc interest just for a notebook and I can't believe this is what I would get.Sorry, I know this is not the right place to rant but I'm just venting. Felt like I'm being cheated

PC Pro: News: Updated: HP confirms Nvidia flaw hits desktops

HP has confirmed that Nvidia's faulty GPUs have created faults with 38 different models in its slimline PC range.

Nvidia's GPU problems have so far been confined to laptops, but HP says Nvidia parts are also to blame for the problem in its desktops.

"HP is aware that certain Nvidia chips used in the HP Pavilion Slimline Desktop PCs may experience issues," the company claims in a statement sent to PC Pro.

"Some of these computers may not boot or may not display video. Computers experiencing either or both of these symptoms, attributable to the computer's motherboard, are eligible for HP's Limited Warranty Service Enhancement."

Several of the PCs on HP's list of affected models are sold specifically in the UK, including the Pavilion s3015.uk, s3040.uk and the s3115.uk.

Nvidia says the issue with the HP desktops isn't necessarily linked to the laptop GPU issues. "It is slimline, notebook-like design but there is no conclusive evidence that the failure mechanism is the same as the notebook issue we announced in July," the company's director of product PR, Luciano Alibrandi, told PC Pro.

"We are working very closely with HP to determine if/how the Nvidia chipset is involved in the failures.

Modern PCs are complex and OEMs determine their own warranty and repair programs based on their individual testing."

Earlier this year, Nvidia complained it was being prevented from revealing the full scale of the problem with its GPUs by its PC partners. "The truth is our obligations to our partners limit what we can say," a Nvidia spokesman commented. "We need to leave announcements to our partners like Dell and HP."

"I know there's frustration, and it would make my job easier if I could give out the facts that I know, but we have obligations to our partners. We discuss it constantly, and the company would like to be more upfront about this - but we can't be."

Nvidia is currently being sued by its shareholders for allegedly covering up the problems with the faulty GPUs.

Nvidia: Defective Nvidia Graphics Cards Confirmed in Desktops

Really Nvidia, what the hell? After steadfastly arguing that its defective graphics cards were limited to notebooks only—they've even sent me a lovely email or two reiterating that claim—HP has just confirmed that 38 different desktop models are plagued with faulty Nvidia graphics cards.

This is on the heels of Apple concluding that MacBook Pros manufactured between May 2007 and last month also pack the fail-prone cards, despite Nvidia's assurance earlier that it was unaffected. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but this is second major contradiction to an earlier Nvidia claim. Nvidia says that there's "no conclusive evidence that the failure mechanism is the same as the notebook issue," but uh, it doesn't look so great, guys.

Nvidia really needs to come clean with the score now—exactly which cards are affected, whose computers they're in, everything. Their near total silence on this while individual computer makers cleanup is absolutely ridiculous.

Now, u stil love ur nvidia cards...?

A few months ago, I made a post here(look it up if you want) about my nVidia 8600GT dying. During the course of its 1 year warranty, I had it changed 4 times, it always screw up! And Im using hp desktop! I even went to the official nVidia forums, many are having the same problems. Obviously not the majority, but daghan. I guess Im one of the unlucky victims.

Ive been an nVidia loyalist for a decade now, I will try to get ATI in time for SC2, just to play it safe. Not hating or anything, its just that I lost faith in nVidia for now. Oh well, hopefully ang PS3 wala problem! They are using nVidia afterall! lol
