As long as the majority of Filipinos in the country are Catholic, the church can b**ch and moan all they want and influence policy. That's just the way it is, politics. If gay folks really want to get married, the can go to Canada or something. I don't hate gay people -they're people too, not dogs, as x300 kindly pointed out- and I'm cool with gay marriage. But whining about the church's stance on this issue is useless.

Leviticus 20:13. This passage talks about homosexuality or the act of homosexuality (sleeping/having *** man to man) as an abomination punishable by death.

er, if you guys are talking about the bible and homos try to scan Deuteronomy particularly 22:5 and 23:17-18. If I remembered it right, back in my high school we had this debate before.

...just can't imagine having my kid looking at homo couples and he'd say to me "hey dad, can I marry my best guy friend someday" uugh. maghikog nlng ko. hehe

^^ OT: I remember my professor in Psychology told me that homophobes have a high tendency of being homosexuals themselves. Well something like that. Not sure if it's true though.

I am not one of those who protest against this. I do mind my own business.
I guess the answer to your question is: they're doing it for the same reason why you're posting and complaining here on things that don't affect you?!

ok theres seems to be a misunderstanding here... when i say gay marriage... it means by being married under the state... and not the church...

if these gays are trying to change the laws of the church then they have the right to complain, coz religions are technically private institutions... and private institutions can practically do what they want... if you dont like them then dont stay with them...

but protesting against the state about gay marriage... thats a different story... I know, we are religious country, so that does mean we just give up and let the state unite with the church?

Maybe the church and state may not be truly separated in the near future... BUT the main thing here is that we TRY..and TRY.. and TRY... to seperate them...

and dont forget the one of the aims of democracy... justice and equality for all... it doesnt mean that your catholic and with ur huge numbers... that you can just trample on the right of others to fit your beliefs... thats just sophisticated form of OPPRESSION...

turn the tables... what if muslims protest to ban the selling of pork in the market... im sure you will be greatly offended and bothered ... and be feeling oppressed... and thats how you christians are exactly treating the gay community...

NOTE: Homosexuality are not only found in humans... it is widespread among mammals... look it up!

    @wng

yes it bothers and affects me... coz im in the realm of public and i dont like the idea that private institutions try to make laws of the public to fit to its private beliefs and rules...

^It's a free country. If catholics wish to protest against gay marriage, who are you to tell them to stop? Look at manila and everyday you see leftists shouting every week; does the government stop them? From your own words: Why are you protesting on things that dont affect you!? I thought you weren't gay? And why are you comparing mammals with humans? Are we that low na ba? Pffft... cmon guys L-to-L dili immoral?

more or less, i consider myself a humanist
i am a humanist too but a realistic humanist. in this country which is predominantly catholic and there is no clear cut line between religion and state, the possibility of gay marriage is very remote.

perfect example, the city hall always have a town plaza and/or catholic church in front of it and the fiesta always falls on a catholic feast day. how could you stop a practice like this? kana pa kahang possibility of gay marriage.

what do you expect from california when the governor is arnold "the terminator" schwarzeneger?
