    This is a personal question.
To answer it you should examine yourself.
    What are your strengths?
    what are your weakness?
    what are your gifts?
how can you use them to help other people?
How can you make this world a better place?
That would be the purpose of your life.
    These are good questions, souldoctor

as long as we don't enforce our belief to others, i am for it.

.. i share your thoughts on this. I was baptized and raised a roman catholic but never did anything to practice my religion. im an atheist in the sense that everything you do always has it's consequences and everything in life is just a matter of choice.

    @souldoctor
good analogy on life about paper and pen...i like it
although, id like to include in that analogy
the laws of causation and karma...
    any ideas?

    @bcsabee
ehehe...i think souldoctor and i share the common view on the value of "soul"

    @fingolfin
what led you to be an atheist?
was it a sudden 'eureka' realization in life or a gradual process that lead to this conclusion?

include ko lang another interesting learning in comparing religions/spiritual paths...
iisa lang ang pagkakaiba ng old religions like paganism, etc etc
    sa christianity...
ito ay yung concept of FORGIVENESS
Yung tipo ba na when you give yourself, others will be pardoned
    (like yung ginawa ni jesus)
sa other religions...it's eye for an eye (or even more, three times more..hehehe)
    wala lang..gusto ko lang ishare.
so if we look at religion not as a cultural map, rather, a human history
psycho-spiritual map...masasabi nating nag-evolve pala tayo as a race noon
by including this idealogy of pardon
At ngayon, we are making history again, by trying to evolve our way of thinking
by trying to establish beliefs outside the conventional and traditional
    so i say: go!go!go! let's evolve..hehehe
    namaste!

Part of our purpose of this life is to learn.
I believe in reincarnation of souls.

Some souls are here to recieve their consequence or punishment.

My common example are the gay people (girls or boys).
They are punished with a life without sexuality aspect of their soul.
Because they abused their sexuality in their previous life.
They abused their sexuality by having so many sexual partners
or by getting paid for ***.
Sexuality is supposed to be designed for procreation not for entertainment.
They have to learn these lesson in this life
or they are bound to make the same mistake over and over again.

free man gud kaayo if wala ka relihiyon.

usa sad sa mga christians, e look down ang mga muslims or other religion and vice versa.

ako respeto lang jud ko sa bisan unsa nga tinoohan as long as e repect sad ko nila.

    peace out bro.

I disagree w/ you on this. Homosexuality is prevalent even among other mammals, I think it is as natural as the hair on your chiny-chin-chin Why would you say that *** is only for procreation and not for entertainment? If we're not thinking of having kids, What about for intimacy? Are our souls only limited to loving or giving intimacy to the opposite ***? Why do you think it is a mistake?

Sorry if I seem to be bombarding you with questions sir ha, I'm just curious.

On the thread topic - I don't practice the religion I was baptized with & I only attend mass on holidays for family togetherness. I'm just not the religious or believes-in-the-supernatural type of person. I think religion and spirituality are important - though not for everyone, in guiding you to your life's purpose.

hahaha, siyempre react ako kase karamihan ng friends ko ay gays
(note: babaeng tunay po ako ha...)

    Medyo disagree ako dito...
kase when you say punishment...we are putting judgement on other people
based on your own standards in sexuality
even if most religions view sexuality (lalo na himosexuality) as a tabboo subject to discuss
regarding it as sin, catering to the lower nature...yadayada
wla pa ring makapagsasabi kung ano ang mangyayari sa taong who opt for same gender
or for those who regard *** as pleasure as well as procreation
( sa maduduming sexual practices...there's STD esp AIds)
pero we cannot say that punishment ang pagiging bakla dahil malibog ka sa previous life
(hehehe, sorry for the term, ginamit ko lang for emphasis)

We aboth have feminine and masculine qualities in each individual
And ung preference for same *** is kinda primordial...
    just like *** itself is primordial...its natural...its basic..its a desire
sa pranic healing nga, master choa says...*** should not be inhibited or repressed
since repression just lead to congestion of the *** chakra
    rather...*** should just be regulated
Tao lang naman ang gumawa ng moral code na bawal ng ganito..ganyan..etc etc
kung tutuusin, *** or reproduction is everywhere...sa tao, hayop, mikrobyo, algae, oyster, etc etc

    And I agree with Kelidricus...
napanuod ko sa national geographic ung homosexuality even sa animals
(hahaha, i really enjoyed this film...kinda shocking, liberating but eye-opening)

OKEY! enuf about sexuality (sorry got carried away)

sabi sa conversations with God ni Neal Donald Walsch
that the purpose of life is not to learn but to Re-member
I dont know about this yet because, hindi ko pa ma-gets masyado ang wisdom na ito
    in this lifetime...
but i agree with you about reincarnation
however, i dont believe na magiging kambing ka kapag pumatay ka ng tao or what
reincarnation for me is yung soul mo ang mismong pipili ng situation mo for you to evolve further
like for example yung special children
ang pagkakaalam ko, merong mga yogis who opted to be a handicapped, disabled, or "special child"
in the next lifetime...not because punishment nila yun
but rather, to evolve more if they experience it..something like that.

Anyways, baka may example ka pang iba doc, pls do share...hehehe
    Blessings!
