holiday means y clase og y work. mao ra
It's more than that. Holidays are not placed in calendars for no reason at all.holiday means y clase og y work. mao ra
for the past few years, GMA's economy advisers should assess if this scheme has brought in more favorable effect to the country. ok man ang goal which is to spur more economic impact by urging people to travel during long weekends and spending more time with their families... BUT the labor majority especially the mid-class and factory workers still render duty during saturdays (6-day workweek) causing conflicts on this "long-weekend." besides, most cannot afford to shed more from their hard-earned money just to travel or have a vacation somewhere else especially nowadays.
maybe stick nalang kung unsa jud ang date and pay respect to what that date or day is all about.
murag wala na kay trabaho ghapon ko maski holiday
well, we can't please everybody...i believe PGMA did this in the concept of FAMILY FIRST before BUSINESS or WORK.
"Holiday Economics"
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo usually issues proclamations moving the holiday to Friday if a holiday falls on a Saturday or to Monday if a holiday falls on a Sunday. The sole purpose is to enable government and private employees to enjoy a three day weekend holiday. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, coining the term holiday economics, introduced the policy in 2001 to reduce disruption to business and production schedules, encourage domestic tourism and give employees long weekends.[8] In 2004 she issued a proclamation making Christmas Eve as special non-working holiday and December 27, the Monday after Christmas as special non-working holiday.
In July 25, 2007, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed into law Republic Act (RA) 9492 also known as "An Act Rationalizing the Celebration of National Holidays", designating 11 Regular Holidays and three Nationwide Special Holidays.[9]. Specific dates or days for celebration are designated. The law provides that holidays falling on a Wednesday will be observed on the Monday of the week and that holidays falling on a on a Sunday, the holiday will be observed on the Monday that follows. Three holidays (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Eidul Fitr) are designated as having movable dates, and the law provides that for movable holidays the President shall issue a proclamation, at least six months prior to the holiday concerned, the specific date that shall be declared as a non-working day.
In addition to the Regular Holidays and Nationwide Special Days which it designates, the law specifies that the Eidul Adha shall be celebrated as a regional holiday in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
While Arroyo's "holiday economics" has been praised for boosting domestic tourism and for encouraging more quality time among members of Filipino families, businessmen are complaining over lost productivity and the hassle of preparing mandatory holiday and overtime salaries in a short period of time. Others deplored it as presidential tinkering with history via executive fiat.

ok ra man pagbalhin ug date mga bay.. kay ang pagremember ra man ang mabalhin, naa man japon activities ang government. i think its not about the date being changed, the question should be the inspiration it is supposed to give our youth.. naa pa bay impact ni sa ato tanan? basig dina kaayo ni makabuluhan..
So we can move our local Holidays such as our Independence Day? but not Labor Day because it's international? We are not moving the celebration, we are just moving the days where there is no work.May 1 is International Labour Day. International ha, not local. Phils can't move it to another date.
Klarohon lng onta ba... para dili sab ta maglibog, hatagan man tuod ta og taas nga Holiday, pero dili ta ka plano daan kung asa ta mag spend sa Holiday kay wala'y klaro kung i-move ba o dili.
Actually... Dili man dapat ta mag-holiday2 kay kung naay holiday, malipay ang tanan tungod kay walay klase... way trabaho... Dili makit.an ang true meaning sa holiday...
actually, dili man masibog ang holiday if there is no presidential proclamation. We should not assume that any local holiday can be automatically moved. We have to know if there is a proclamation. The proclamation also indicates if its a working or non-working holiday.Originally Posted by FK
and yes, if it's an international holiday like labor day, xmas day, new year, holy week, dili na cla masibog to our own preference. ang local holidays ra.
anyways, this "Holiday economics" is not favorable to all concerned. There are also criticisms about this. Some say this could be counter-productive to some industries. Some deplored it as presidential tinkering with history via executive fiat.
aw, magbuot man ta sa presidente. iya man pud na...unless there is no form of official complaint raised to the legislative, executive or judiciary (actually i don't know where the proper venue is), that (holiday economics) will stay w/ us for quite a long time.
as far as im concerned, personally, i prefer it.
Holiday economics can be favorable if they just plan for the whole year. Kung naa holiday in the middle of the week, mahibaw-an na daan nga adto siya sa monday, the business can also plan their production schedule and also the workers can plan their leaves. Win-win situation.
