Nice to be here in this forum, well many of the songs and the genre we label as jazz is not considered jazz by the musical academe. Some Earl Klugh songs, Kenny G, Dave Benoit would fall in the category of crossover of simply pop instrumentals... but what the heck, if most of us call it jazz! then let's call it jazz! Most of my collections are those of the avant-garde like Chick Corea, Dave Brubeck, keith Jarrett, herbie hancock and of course heavy does of Bossa Nova, samba and Tropicalia... Jobim (almost all his albums including his last song Looks Like December), Flora Purim, Nara Leao, Djavan, Joao Bosco, Ivan Lins, Eliane Elias, Milton Nascimento, Caetano Veloso, Dori Caymi, Joao Gilberto, Astrud, Oscar Castro Neves... my list of favorite Brazilian artists is almost endless!

@ antoy- not to start a debate about what jazz is really all about, but i agree with you... if it sounds good - then jazz it is.
i'm seriously into pat metheny and the pat metheny group, but when not in a serious/contemplative mood, i'm also into bossa nova (jobim, etc.), acoustic alchemy, and all my old stuff from the 70s and 80s. when i'm online, i'm usually listening to www.kksf.com for its contemporary smooth jazz music. as for bossa nova, i had the fortune of going to brazil once but all i was able to bring back was a CD of Banda Raca Negra, mostly samba stuff...
