was about to buy lumia 900 pero it doesnt make sense to buy one knowing ur phone is already obsolete just a few months after its available....

The Lumia line wouldnt be obsolete for a year still, sa Pinas at least. As you may remember, November 2011 gi-release ang Lumia 800 internationally, but niabot sa Pinas last April (or May) 2012 pa. The Lumia 900 was released sa US March, June na niabot sa Pinas. Probably murag mao pud nay mahitabo sa wp8 devices, mga 1st or 2nd quarter next year na muabot sa Pinas, so in a way, the Lumia 900 will still be the Windows Phone flagship diria sa Pinas.

Anyhow, the first gen Lumia phones will still get 7.8, a trimmed-down version of wp8. And if the rumors circulating on the net are true, WP OEMs will continue making new Win CE-based phones (7.5, 7. for the entry-level market even after wp8 is released, so most likely the present Lumia line will continue to get updates and new apps from both Microsoft and developers well after Wp8 release

Not in my case at least. Nipalit ko Lumia 800 last month knowing na dili jud sya ma-upgrade to wp8. I just happen to love the design and UI. Mga 1 year pa muabot ang wp8 phones sa pinas most likely. Besides, the first generation of W8 phones murag wala pay Pureview. Murag 2014 or 4th quarter 2013 pa muabot ang Pureview sa Lumia line. So almost 2 years pa before I need to upgrade my 800 to a Lumia Pureview.

hahaahah... ataya sa microsoft/nokia... imagine my HTC HD7 released almost 2 years ago would just have the same O.S sa mga ng gawas na bago-o na lumia phones... mao gyud ni daghan na gibagotbotbot sa mga ni palit sa lumia 900 flagship phone nila... i will just keep my htc hd7 for awhile to try out the WP 7.8

it's not yet been confirmed first gen wp devices will be upgraded to 7.8. It was mentioned sa ilang presscon that "some" wp7.5 will be upgradaded, so na jud mga devicea that will be left behind. Besides that, Nokia has been churning out tons of exclusive apps for Lumia users.

Cramming that many tiles on a small screen makes it look messy imo...
