You're asking half-assed questions when we're discussing overall effects of stronger currency on the economy. If you think strong currency helps our country, then nobody can change your mind. What I do know is that countries are actively devaluing their currencies and its not because our leaders are smarter than theirs.
di na niya kayang tubagon bai... minimum wage earner ra biya daw sya?! wahaha

@monroy -- I'm so sorry to hear that, bro. That makes me sad, really sad.

I'd like to share my experience here, not to make you feel bad bro ha, but to perhaps show unsa ka way klaro atong gobyerno, bisan gamay nga incentive man lang for our exporters, wala gyud.

About 5 yrs ago, I decided I wanted to try going into business here, sideline lang when I have time off from my main job. Since I didn't know the first thing about business, I called the local govt office and told them of my plans and asked if they could help me unsaon pag start. I was referred to an NGO that helps women start their own small businesses, kaning mga first timers nga wala pa ka try negosyo. After a preliminary interview, I was told to fill up some forms and sign them and they would give me 2k USD pang start sa akong business. I declined coz I thought it was a loan unya hadlok ko dili unya ko makabayad. I was told, nope, they will GIVE me the 2k, no strings attached! On top of that, they assigned a business mentor for me, who lived close to me and who is successful in the same kind of business I wanted to get into. The mentor was so helpful, mao pa mag una emails and tawag nko, mag sulti about sa business, tips, strategies, marketing etc etc. I refused the 2k, coz the business was a low-capital one. Pero nindot kaayo akong na feel adtong panahona, I felt I wasn't alone, I actually felt like the govt sincerely wanted me to succeed. Maybe because they were smart enough to know that if I succeeded, I'm benefiting the economy? I dunno.

Mao na bro monroy, now that you tell me this about the plight of our exporters, nga wala jud help from the govt, that makes me really sad. It's like the govt is creating a whole slew of conditions for our exporters NOT to succeed.

@SioDenz, I don't understand why you keep reiterating your point about imports, when our main imports are consumer goods and energy/oil, not raw materials used by production facilities (which you seem to imply). An economy with a trade deficit is often sickly and fundamentally unstable--you seem to think cheaper imports = good for economy.

like i always say - if the peso is indeed strong, then the prices of commodities should also go down.

it's always the people that gets cheated by the government officials. stupid really.
it will never god down. afaik, a strong peso can only control the rise of the inflation rate.
