    What's up guys? I still keep in contact with some ex-PBA players. Next month there will be a tournament in Northern California called the NationWide Tourney and we are looking to put a team in it. Myself, Rob Duat, Kenny Evans, and Phil Newton. We were going to play in the summer, but a few teams dropped out of a tournament. Think they were afraid of us=)

    @Yatakitumbi

    I don't remember a Steve Watson.

    Guys, feel free to ask me whatever questions you want. I will answer them to the best of my knowledge. Give me some good ones. If there are some of you who still don't believe me, fire away=)

    Rob Duat left because Alaska let him go. They do it to everyone. He had got some minor surgery done on his knee. Red Bull wanted to sign him and he called me from the P.I to see what he should do. I just told him, it's time to come back to the states and start a new life. Back to the real world. We keep in touch every now and then.

    Rob Duat was playing well when he suddenly disappeared from the PBA scene, he was even a starter on Alaska's lineup once

    Yes, he was doing well. During the summer. I think it was in 2005, I was in a tournament in Hayward and he was there. Didn't play. He came back to get surgery done on his knee. Well, a few months later, he called me and told me Alaska released him and Red Bull wanted him, but he didn't know if he wanted to continue playing or just to call it quits. That's part of the business. One minute, teams love you, the next minute they turn on you. It happens all over. It's all about how you take it. It's a shady business. Rob and I played together last year in a tournament also.

    how funny, Rob Duat & Kenny Evans performance during their MBA days were "mediocre" or the expectations of the public were not met but when they played in the PBA, they showed their skills and competed before they left for good... it only shows there are bball players suited for run & gun or half-court slow down type of a game...which the latter suited both players...

    You're right. One thing that I didn't get to do was play at the SAME time with Kenny in the backcourt at Alaska. We were teammates in 2001, but we also had Arigo, Rodney Santos, and Duremdes. Kenny barely played. I asked Tim Cone to play us together in games, but it didn't happen because management didn't like the fact that Rodney and Kenneth Duremdes would have to sit out. We did play together, we clicked and did very well!

    have u tried playing together and against the tandem of Rodney & Kenneth during practices? I would assume you went toe to toe with the vets...

    Yes we did. We handled them very well. They couldn't bring the ball up the court. I was 2nd string at the time so Kenny and myself always played together in practiced and destroyed them. It would either be Jon Arigo w/ Kenneth, Kenneth w/Rodney, or Arigo w/Rodney. This was why I had lunch with Tim Cone and asked if we could play more. The outcome....politics. I can remember Rodney was sick during the 2nd conference in 2001. 6'8 and under import. Our 1st game, Red Bull in Bataan. They had Tony Lang. I started at the point guard spot. Had 13 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds. Alaska...victory. 2nd game, I believe we played Purefoods, we won. I had 10 points. Still in the starting position. Our 3rd game was the sweetest game. We played Pop Cola. My 2nd time going against my old team. The first game, I played OK. We won. That was during the All-Filipino Cup. But this was in the 2nd Conference, and our 3rd game, vs, the Flying A. I got player of the game. 14 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds. We beat my former team. The moral of the story....I averaged double figures in the 1st 3 games I started because Rodney was sick. Well, 4th game, he was back and back into the starting lineup. That was going to be my break out year cause it was my 1st year with Alaska. The rotation was me and Kenneth and Arigo, coming off the bench. Then Tim Cone had to find some "time" for Rodney, so I was put on the back burner. POLITICS!! Cant' beat it!

    WOW! thanks for sharing your input regarding this matter... Yah I think I can still remember that game way back 2001 since I was still religiously following the PBA/NBA games... Well, politics is everywhere and the saddest thing in life is the public or most of those who don't know the game would stereotype a bball player of something which he's not...too bad for u...

    I personally don't think Rodney Santos is a natural PG since during his amateur days he was a SG/SF never a PG....and the way he handles himself as a PG is like he's uncomfortable with the said position...I don't know that's my observation on how he plays as PG...maybe true maybe not...
