After that, I received several offers ra pod gikan sa mga referrals og networks nga ex-colleagues. Pero ang ako g accept nga offer from a start up company...it is important not to burn the bridges and build good relationship sa mga colleagues.

    Ok ra man og mo go ka ana nga offer. Pero as I've said, andam2x lng and consider the worst condition nga e layoff ka or Endo. Note nga dili pa ka ma covered sa support sa layoff gikan sa gobyerno kung wala pa kay 1yr.

    Kung ma layoff ka, unya plano nimo mangapply ug laing trabaho, the hard fact here is most of the jobs are thru referrals or networks. And the current situation karon, mag lisod ug sulod ang foreigner kung dili maka norsk. "Some" employers kay mo ignore sa imong CV basta dili norwegian ang pangan.

    Mo site ko ug example sa akong mga kaila sa Stavanger pod. O&G pod...ang isa ka kaila nko agency pod, after a year gikuha nya iyang family. Samtang nag work pa cya sa agency, among gibtambagan nga mangita ug permanent nga employment pero he ignored. Sadly, ni abot jud ang point nga ga lisod jud cya. Pero maau kay karon naka survive.

    No, not Aibel. Sorry but I prefer not to say it, pacensya na. Kahibaw ko sa situation sa O&G karon and I've been to similar consultant contracts in the past which I am very familiar.

    As for the pay, the employer is providing a salary which is above the national average in Norway. How did I know? I did my research and I have contacts/friends who are working currently in Norway. I will be working as a Senior Professional once I get there.

    I appreciate your advice pero I've done my research well before I posted in this forum and your observation is correct. I firmly believe na kinahanglan ka mo take og risk aron ma-successful. So far sa 14 years nako na career sa Oil & Gas (more than 6 companies from 5 different countries under my experience) wla pa ko kasulay na lay-off or na endo and I'm confident in my abilities. Anyway, if magkadi-unsa, I can always come back from one of my past companies as I've built good relationship with the leads and managers. All I need is a chance to set foot in this country and prove my worth.

    By the way, the company that I'll be working with has services in renewable/green energy (not only O&G).

    Anyway, I appreciate your advice, hopefully we can meet-up once I get there soon. Salamat! =)

    Just to add on the layoff info. naay mga criteria sila nga gina sunod jud based sa balaod sa pagpanarbaho:

    1st - seniority
    2nd - competence
    - skills/experience
    - education
    3rd - social standing
    4th - age

    Seniority always labaw jud na sa competence. Nya sa competence, naay sub-category ana nga skills og education. Kasagaran sad sa Norwegian nga engineer naay masteral degree. samtang kasagaran pod nato nga pinoy, Bachelor degree...nya social standing kana if naa kay mga dagku nga loan, ikaw ra ang naay income, pila imong anak, etc..nya last ang age.

    So when I was laid off, the CEO personally talked to me nga tungod sa seniority ang ground. Mao nga ako ang pinaka less seniority sa mga 23 nga na layoff. And the CEO even promised nga pabalikon ko nya when everything will recover. And that's why I got several job offers thru referrals/network ky I didn't know nga gi refer ko sa CEO og sa ubang colleagues. My job was not that easy, I was one of the two persons who "ran the show" on every drilling projects we had and worked both on and offshore. But still, naa pa man mas senior nako nga maka take over sa akong place.

    Sa mga companies, ang una jud nga ma layoff kana mga hired as consultants or not permanent employees.

    Diri Norway, ang isa ka employee daku kaau ug right or naay tingog. Unlike in other countries like Saudi, US, Singapore, Pinas, etc. nga sayun ra kaau e terminate. Even ang mga union naay power nga maka stop work para mag negotiate nga mag increase ug sweldo. And have the right not to work hantod dili ma settle ang negotiations. And when you are not at work tungod ana, pwede ka maka claim sa gobyerno ug suporta.

    Mas nindot jud ug naa ka sa new department or start up companies kay ikaw ang maka una og naa kay hold sa seniority.
