Imagine what the government will have to go through if all people will say that..

our govt is nothing but a reflection of what we are in general, if all people will move in the same direction i bet we will have a good govt..

Ideally, lower energy rates should be the effect of a stronger peso, but there's no way energy companies wouldn't take an appreciating peso as an opportunity to maximize profits.

The only time a strong peso actually does good for the economy is if we have a robust GDP and strong export industry. Of course, there's the option of exporters lowering the prices of their goods for the local market, but why would the Pinoy consider them, when there are similarly-priced (even cheaper) imported goods of the same, if not better, quality?

The smartass people in this thread who pose as defenders of the poor think that a stronger peso is actually good for those in poverty when in fact, it only adds to their numbers. At the most, we may see a drop in rice prices by a few pesos, but other than that, commodity prices will remain the same--aber, kapila man kuno nag rollback diri sa Pinas?

Seeing as we're an economy that depends so heavily on OFW remittances, the cons of a strong peso will be felt by more people. Add to that the woes of our already crippled export industry. This is precisely why the BSP will intervene when the Peso goes under 40 threshold--any lower and the BPO sector starts to lose revenues as well.

No support at all bro, and you can ask any exporters here. They don't even grant tax relief for import of capital machinery needed to improve productivity. If you compare it with China there's really no comparison, I was at a trade show there a few months ago and was surprised to find out that none of the companies paid to lease their space at the expo, it was all paid for by the government!

What really concern me is that an authoritarian government that they say is repressive does more to take care of their people than our country that claims to be democratic. It leads me to believe our government thinks democracy is only about elections but not about delivering a better life to people. Like some posters here are suggesting, just live a simple life and be thankful for the government we have lang daw. Well I think the large numbers of OFW and companies relocating overseas have made their choice. It's become so bad that there are now pinoy working or doing tnt in China, yes, China of all places! Why do I know this? Because we're applying for a visa for my girlfriend now and the travel agent told me she can't guarantee one will be granted because their government is now cracking down on illegal immigration from our country. Who could think it would come to this a few years ago? This should be a source of embarrasment for everyone...

of course we ofws have the right to complain or voice out our concern with this so called strong-peso. We are the one's directly affected by it but on the other hand, we are the one's helping the economy with our billions of pesos of remittance per year.

like i always say - if the peso is indeed strong, then the prices of commodities should also go down.

it's always the people that gets cheated by the government officials. stupid really.

Like i said bay reflection rna atong gobyerno sa kong unsa ta in general, the change starts with us with our children ug ktong mga tao nga next in line, kong dili ta mosalig sa atong mga leaders bisan unsa pana sila ka maayo mangita jud ta ug sayop, dili sad jud ta angayan nga magsalig sad nila kay dako kaayo sad na sila'g mga problema nga giatubang, daghan man gud ug demands ang public. nya di baya na ing-ana ka sayon sulbaron,. dili mana sala sa gobyerno nganong nimahal ang gasolina, private enterprise bya na, it is being run by private investors..

.. In our perspective unfair manjud kaayo kay kita man ang directly nga naapektahan sa ilang kaboang, but i think kong mosalig lang ta nila anam2 man nato nga matagaan ug lunas ang atong sitwasyon karon.. if we all will share the same positive mentality ug mag synergize ta towards the common goal cguro mausab nato atong mga anomaliya cguro not in our lifetime but on the next..

but i know it's close to fantasy kay close to impossible man jud na nga mahitabo, but at least man lang naay majority sa atoa nga ing-ana dba, wa pjud koy nasugatan nga tao nga positive ang isulti bahin sa gobyerno, usually mga bati jud ang isulti,.
