Depending on the shooting condition I use the following

80% Flickr: alabang's stuff tagged with ef 800mm f5.6l is usm

05% Flickr: alabang's stuff tagged with ef 500mm f4.0l is usm

10% Flickr: alabang's stuff tagged with ef 300mm f2.8l is usm

05% Flickr: alabang's stuff tagged with ef 200mm f2.0l is usm

Wildlife & bird photography is like courting a girl. You can shock & awe her with gear or get her by your approach.

It is often better to get closer to the subject that shooting from afar.

As for attire you can wear whatever you want but it is best you follow the get up of hikers but in earth tones like greens & browns. The fabric of your attire should be like Nike's Dri-FIT so you are comfortable when shooting in hot humid places. It's also ideal to have hiking shoes as well.



The most popular bird photography lens in the Philippines is the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM (pictured above being used by my photog idol Art Morris) that sells for the same price as the EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM.

Both glass cost less than EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM, EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM, EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM, EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM & EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM.

People who live in Cebu are fortunate to have Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary and the Central Cebu Protected Landscape where in 1992 it was reported that the virtually extinct Cebu Flowerpecker, which is considered 1 of the top 3 rarest bird in the world, was found. I know some Cebu bird photogs who have visited the landscape more than 70 times trying to photograph the bird.

The other Cebu-only bird is your "Siloy" or in English Black Shama.
