diri sa atong airport sa mactan, birds freely fly around the grassy areas near the runway, wala man sad ko kabantay og countermeasures nga gibuhat ang ato airport officials diri. although i've hear stories of birdstrikes from various pilots sa amo area, it didn't happen sa airport mismo.

but in some airports that has a significant volume of bird activity especially abroad, daghan sila'g gi.employ nga countermeasures for scaring away the birds like flashing lights, loud sounds, decoys of animals, K9 units, guns and other strategies available to get rid of the birds in the airport vicinity. here's a funny way of preventing a birdstrike:



birdstrike prevention is an important matter because birdstrikes can cost lots of money for repair of damaged engines and airframes. here's a sample:



i just don't know how many thousands of dollars would this engine take to be repaired just because birds were ingested into it.
