Hi guys! I wanted to share some insights - living here in Dubai. I have stayed here for one year and counting. My brother sponsored me for a visit visa in which I am entitled for one month stay. During my first day I did not waste any single minute. I distributed my CV for all the jobs offered online. I was then hired a week later. It is not hard to look for a job especially if you're a female. It's like 90 % chance you will be hired apart from males (depending on your skills and qualification). I highly advise that you need to have a relative or family living in UAE as your sponsor because immigration will ask for proof of sponsorship/relationship. However there are some who successfully got away with it. They take a flight from Ph to Singapore and bought another ticket from Singapore to Dubai. It is possible but quite risky.

I couldn't agree with you more. Women have huuuge advantage when it comes to jobhunting here in Dubai. Poor us men. We may have the competencies and all but women really do get the priority in all aspects of recruitment process, from standing in line for an interview up to profile selection for a job.

Daghan kaayo mga pana diri na modive-in ug gamayng sweldo just to get their visit/tourist visa converted into employment visa, this is why most kabayans had a little chance of attaining their desired salary. I have been on the look out for good jobs for the past 11 days pero nobody called me up yet. Found myself soliciting my CV on foot everywhere pero maski usa wala man gyud nanawag. It was a bit late when I learned about the magic trick most kabayans do here to increase the chance of getting shortlisted for an interview, then eventually shortlisted for a job. If you are not good at making lies and fabricating a good story, then I will not suggest doing this.

Well, I am not sure if someone in this site had already blown the lid off pero I am going to tell you some tricks that may help you land the job that you prefer [and you will work for the next 2-3 years]. These tips go to those who had the same problem as mine. I am not a skilled worker and my work experience is not really relevant to the available jobs. If you think we had the same credentials, then I know you will understand why we have to do this.

    1. PIMP YOUR PROFILE - Here in Dubai, it is not a surprise if you alter some critical attributes of your CV - your educational attainment and previous work experiences. Please make sure the changes you've done to your CV will look just fine -- in a way that you can support your claim with convincing details. In my case, I had to put a total of 2 years working experience in Clothing/Fashion Retail, Electronics/Gadgets, may include naming the company and putting in an address for a more believable appeal.

    2. A 2-page CV is optimal. You really have to look best on your CV picture because your face and your appearance will really make an impact to the ones viewing your CV. Apply some photoshop magic if need be. Printing out CVs here in Dubai is quite expensive, might even pay Dh2 (Php20) per page for a Black&White copy. If you are on a tight budget like me, there are supermarkets in Bur Dubai and in Al Rigga (across Grand Mart) who offer "piso per page" or 10 fils per page, black and white. Wala ko kabalo tagpila ang colored kay wala man ko kasuway hehe.

VERY IMPORTANT TIP: You must have at least 2-3 types of CV. The first CV is for the jobs that you really wanted (may be office/secretarial jobs). Second, a CV na pwede panlaban sa Sales Experience. Third, if kinahanglan pa nimo 3rd CV, a CV for Retail Experience. Dapat kabalo sad ka sa imo gipangapplyan para kung naay manawag inviting you for an interview, you know which CV you had submitted to them para dili ka ma rattle nag tubag hehe.

    3. SET YOUR SAILS - In searching for a job online, here are the famous online job sites:

Property Real Estate for Sale and Rent. Jobs in the Middle East and North Africa , Free Classifieds in with Dubizzle.com
Latest News, Pictures, Video, Multimedia | Gulf News - The Middle East's News homepage
Jobs and Accommodation in Dubai UAE on the free Dubai Classifieds

Additionally, below are for the company sites with good reputation here in Dubai.

    Alshaya
Al-Futtaim | Welcome to AlFuttaim Online Career Centre - AFutureWithUs
    Al Tayer Group
    azadea
Sharaf DG.com - Buy Electronics Online in UAE. Widest Choice. Best Value. Trusted Service

Just register and do your clickety clicks all day and find time to study them. Most of the sites above are for fashion/clothing retail, electronics, restaurant services and more. Check them out one by one.

BTW, speaking of 'reputable companies', please be careful not to bump in to scam advertisements in those online recruitment sites. Daghan kaayo na sila. To spot them, their ads may look like this, "A reputed company is looking for....blah blah" or "Our client, a leading company in Dubai in the field of...is recruiting... please call or send cv to...". If naay number gi provide for you to call, copy and paste it to google search and the results should show other postings they have in the past which may give you clues about its legitimacy. Ang ako style kay to only check out advertisements with a name of their company in it (of course search it in google).

If trip sad nimo mag laag2x, bring your CVs with you in a discreet manner, dapat tourist gyud imo dating ba aron dili ka dudahan haha. You may drop or leave CVs at these locations:

MAF Tower - Deira City Center Metro Station
Dubai Duty Free - Emirates Metro Station
The Emirates Group - Emirates Metro Station
Al Shaya - Sharaf DG Metro Station
Al Tayer - GGICO Metro Station
Sharaf DG - GGICO Metro Station - walk - in interview every Saturday

My intention of giving out these illicit tips is to help those hunting for a job. No offense intended to the recruiters.

Whoah! I'm impressed! Very well explained. Tiga Dubai pud diay ka doh?
Basta be very careful on applying for jobs abroad. Ayaw pada sa mga promise nila na mka work ka dayon especially naa required na money down.. Never ever trust any one.
