maybe the magnet is used in order to tell the fake ones (usually made of non magnetic cast iron or sort of pundido) from the real knives usually of real steel.

Not all STEELS or METALS are not meant to be KNIFE BLADES .

It cant be justified since both 154 CM and 8CR13MOV both clings to a magnet but what if walay special markings ? The latter is the close equivalent China made. What if you paid something because it was claimed na 154CM siya ? Pwerting mahala ana na klase na steel baya.
