Lozada rejected an on-air showdown with Philippine Forest Corp official Erwin Santos Thursday evening, but told him he expected him to do what he did.
"Pare, ayoko na po makipag-ano, inaasahan ko naman po yan. Marami akong inaasahan na mga Erwin na lalabas. Yan lang sana masabi ko, pasensya na po kayo" he told in a three-way phone-patch interview on dzXL radio.[br]Posted on: February 22, 2008, 03:55:47 AM_________________________________________________V illar admits pressure from Palace to stop NBN mess probe

GMA should have resign long ago... before pa sa ZTE-NBN, pagpanikas pa lng niya sa Garci.“At this stage, I am sympathetic. I understand those who are calling upon her to resign, but I myself had not come to that point… of calling others to take the same stand,” Caloocan Bishop Deogracias Iñiguez told ABS-CBN News Channel.
This, Iñiguez said, is because Rodolfo Noel “Jun” Lozada Jr.’s testimonies about the government’s botched broadband network project, although believable, still need confirmation by other witnesses.
“Lozada is a very, very credible spokesperson. What he thinks, what he testifies to… up to now are allegations. Although they are very believable, we need some confirmation of it,” the bishop said.
Dare to Lozada donor: ‘Come and get your money’

MANILA, Philippines -- The Senate has dared the “private donor” who allegedly gave P500,000 to star witness Rodolfo Lozada Jr. through Deputy Executive Secretary Manuel Gaite to come out and claim the money from the chamber.
“The private donor must offer proof of ownership and be prepared to explain to the Senate the circumstances behind his or her donation. If the donor was only acting out of the goodness of his heart, then he or she has nothing to fear,” said Sen. Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, who co-chairs the Senate’s joint committee investigation into the allegedly anomalous NBN-ZTE deal.
According to Lozada, Gaite had given the P500,000 to his brother ostensibly to reimburse Lozada’s credit card expenses when he left for Hong Kong to avoid being arrested by the Senate which wanted him to testify on the NBN-ZTE deal. Lozada turned over the cash to the Senate early this week.
Gaite initially declared that he gave the money as a personal loan to Lozada. However, Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita corrected Gaite’s statement the day after, saying the money came from a private donor.
Sen. Francis Escudero said Ermita should not treat the public as “idiots.”
“It’s an insult that their reply is so far from the truth,” he said.
Escudero has demanded that Gaite produce a statement of assets and liabilities to determine whether he was financially capable of making a P500,000 loan.
Even if the Palace revised its story and claimed that Gaite had solicited the amount from a private person, Escudero said that it was still a violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Law because Gaite asked for money to be given to another person.
“The plot thickens, the intricate web of deceit has its own way of collapsing as more people get caught in its threads,” said Roxas.
