up for bearded dragon lovers!
We found her this morning on her tank.. she passed away..
She is still about 4 years old... She gave birth to her first clutch Last june...
We still don't know the reason.. There were no clear symptoms of decease..
The only symptoms we found was yesterday she was poo-ing like crazy.. some traces of undigested food.. But this was just yesterday, and this morning.. she was gone..
She still looked very healthy, going on shed..
Sigh..
Rest in peace Cheecha.. Chong and the rest of your family will miss you..
UPDATE:
Doctor called, Liver was Super Enlarged and Yellow, so it was a liver problem... Could be Genetic or could be a virus like Hepa.. will observe chong closely..
sorry to hear about Cheecha. will take care of her babies![]()
Thaaanks, I am still in shock really.. sigh... She was a very good eater, regular bowel movements.. sigh...
wonder what triggered/caused it....it would be nice if we knew so that we can avoid it. could it have anything to do with her diet? but she must have had the same diet for many years right?
I talked to the doctor again when I picked up cheecha after the autopsy...
He also found a lot of fat in Cheecha.. so it seems Cheecha was albeit Fat..
These fat for sure came from the Super worms I have been feeding the dragons when they turned into adulthood. Sigh.. So guys becareful with worms, dili gyud na sila staple diet. Crickets and Roaches mas maayo.
how about mealworms? what do you say about them?
@ ryan: condolence bro.na-shock pud ko when you informed me earlier today about cheecha.
@ mypetstation: MWs have less fat content, BUT definitely a no-no gyud as staple BD diet ang mealworms since they have thicker exoskeletons, thus more difficult to digest for BDs. ok ra if newly molted imo ihatag, but it's not everyday that you find enough newly molted MWs.
copy gilbzthanks for the advice. i'm sticking to crickets then. hehe...plus the greens and the pellets of course but mostly crickets
daghan man gud mi MW karun. hehe...
Crickets and Roaches the best gyud. After 1.5 years with me, I stopped breeding crickets and finally moved them to Super Worms.. which is ok raman unta, about 10 a day lang than veggies na most of their diet. But Cheecha tends to overeat about 15-18 on some days.. I guess usa na sa culprit... I gave her more especially after she gave birth to bring her back up to condition, I guess it was too much
Dont forget your multivits 3 times a week sad and calcium daily.
