Good day Fiona!
Here are the answers to the questions you have emailed me yesterday! I hope you find these sufficient and I hope that if you still have further questions, please do not hesitate to email me or contact me through the list of channels I have written at the end of this email! Thank you and GOD BLESS!
1) I would just like to clarify-- JCI stands for Junior Chamber International, yes?
Yes, Junior Chamber International, MANDAUE CHAPTER.
I am not so sure yet about all the specific details because this event was by my fellow Golden Hearter VP External (Michael Brian C. Yu) who is a member of JCI and one of the officers for said event. I am Dr. Adhara Amie Aubrey C. Tan DMD by the way, dentist and President Of Golden Hearts CEBU. An org which we recently just started in Istorya.net. We started off with SNACK ATTACK where we fed kids in our neighborhood in LAHUG some free FISHBALL & TEMPURA & CANDIES. The money we spent for the FREE SNACKS was from our own pockets and form donations from people in Istorya who wanted to join in on the event. It was just a small event but it was a success! For more info, you can try and look at our PICTURES of the EVENT!
This is how it started (FOR GOLDEN HEARTS CEBU)
https://www.istorya.net/forums/genera...e-read-on.html
it just started with MY FAMILY, then I tried to get other people in Istorya involved and they happily gave into the idea!
This was the SNACK ATTACK planning

This is our THREAD in Istorya (GOLDEN HEARTS CEBU)

I am more into the GOLDEN HEARTS CEBU org than the JCI but I am on my way also to getting affiliated with them through my VP, Michael Brian C. Yu!
Here is our WEBSITE which is not finished yet!
Home - Sharing and Giving in our own little ways...
+++ALL LINKS you could find PICTURES of THAT EVENT!
2) What made your org decide to have a fund-raising like this? Is this your first Drink for A Cause activity, by the way?
In totality, it is a project of JCI (Junior Chamber International).
The Org I am affiliated with, Golden Hearts CEBU which started out in Istorya.net only kind of helped out with said event in terms of advertisement, getting the bands and getting people to lend a helping hand for this cause, get involved and give services for FREE etc and making it known to the public beforehand. That way, at the same time, our org would also be known to the public via this event coz we are gonna help out there too. The servers and photogs and bands playing mostly would be Golden Hearts people or G'Pipz for short.
About the HISTORY of the DRINK FOR A CAUSE event, according to the PROJECT CHAIR, Mr. Disston T. Tan who is also the project manager of THINKING TOOLS, it kind of started out the same with our SNACK ATTACK which also just started out within my family! This event, DRINK FOR A CAUSE, first started out within their barkada way back in College who got injured. And so to be able to help their barkada with his hosppital bills, meds and what not's, they started out this idea and coined this catchy phrase, "DRINK FOR A CAUSE" as a way of helping out the injured friend.
This current DRINK FOR A CAUSE which will happen this coming JULY 30, 2011 at ZAO RESTOBAR in Andres Abellana is actually their 3rd Benefit project already but this time it is for the benefit of Polog Elementary school and day care center.
3) What made you choose Polog Elem. School?
Polog elementary & day care center has the following:
-Only 1 day care center for more than 5 YEARS.
-Only 1 volunteer teacher handling NURSERY, KINDER I & II
-They have MANY STUDENTS since they only have 1 CENTER and that is bad for the health of the children to be in a very populated room without enough ventilation or even chairs and tables to sit in and work on and study even. This setting could cause poor health, skin asthma, skin diseases or worst, infectious disease to spread from student to student like a wildfire.
-The center has been ON for more than 15 years with the same volunteer teacher and it has not been repaired and finished since.
-The center has NO CR so just imagine where the kids would pee or poop! So not good for their health and well-being. The center also has No proper facilities and very dangerous for the students since its roof has already been attacked by termites so just imagine that.
-Another thing why it is DANGEROUS for kids is the fact that although at first look, you may think the CENTER is in good condition especially when the people there would clean up the place and make it spick and span. BUT, if you look around and make a thorough checking of the place, you will see WOOD standing up all over the place acting like stilts or support for the roof or ceiling. If earthquakes happen, God forbid, many students would be hurt or worst die if this facility would not be restored.
4) What are your personal thoughts regarding the event?
For me, it is a good thing to do since it is CHILDREN who would benefit the renovation of said school through this event. As Dr. Jose Rizal said, "The Youth are the hope of our MOTHERLAND." And what better way to help in molding their minds by giving them a place where LEARNING is COMFORTABLE and ENJOYABLE for them, right? It is these innocent minds that we would like to help more for a brighter tomorrow! For me, I would rather help CHILDREN than ADULTS! I have a few BAD IMPRESSIONS on helping adults.
5) May I know your full name, if it's alright? And I'm assuming you're a member of JCI--- do you have a position in the org? So I can quote you appropriately.
