Air21 pushes for a replay, cites TnT-Ginebra case

Air21 will make another appeal today to the PBA commissioner’s office for a replay of its controversial game against San Miguel last Wednesday, citing as precedent a ruling made by former commissioner Noli Eala on practically the same case in a Talk n Text-Ginebra tiff in 2003.

“We’re still hoping that commissioner Sonny Barrios will reconsider his decision. In fairness to him, he’s not there when the ruling on the Talk n Text-Ginebra controversy was made. He may not be fully apprised of what happened then,” said Air21 governor and team manager Lito Alvarez.

Mark Cardona's career night lifts Talk N Text past Red Bull

Mark Cardona, who was not picked in the 14-man National Basketball team, scored 27 of his career-high 42 points to lead the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters over the Red Bull Barakos of National Team coach Yeng Guiao, 103-93 in the 2008-2009 KFC PBA Philippine Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.

“I work hard, I play hard, kaya ang game na ito parang message ko na rin kay Coach Yeng na I deserve to be in the national team,” said Cardona.

Helterbrand sparks Ginebra in win over Purefoods

Jayjay Helterbrand scored 11 of his 23 points in the final quarter and added 8 assists and 5 rebounds as the Brgy. Ginebra Kings pulled away from a close game in the final quarter to beat the Purefoods TJ Giants, 90-80 in the 2008-2009 KFC PBA Philippine Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Ronald Tubid added 17 points and 8 boards and Eric Menk 11 and 12 as the King avenged a 92-81 defeat during their first meeting last October 26.

Caguioa out for the rest of the All-Filipino tourney

Barangay Ginebra will be without Mark Caguioa for the rest of the tournament after team officials confirmed Sunday night that rehabilitation of Caguioa's knees will take longer than expected.

Ginebra coach Jong Uichico admitted that he spoke to Caguioa two weeks ago, and the Kings' top scorer said he was advised by renowned doctor Steve Lombardo that it would take at least six weeks to get both his injured knees completely healed.
