Mavs blows out the Knicks, 113-97

The Dallas Mavericks got their three-game road trip off to a blazing start tonight.

With Dirk Nowitzki pouring in 29 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, the Mavs went into Madison Square Garden and beat the New York Knicks, 113-97. It was Nowitzki's first double-double since returning from a sprained right knee Jan. 15 against Memphis -- 10 games ago.

The Mavs have now won' seven of their last eight games, including six in a row, to improve to 33-15. It's the longest current winning streak in the NBA.

Besides Nowitzki, the Mavs got 22 from JJ Berea, 15 points and 11 rebounds from Tyson Chandler, 13 points from DeShawn Stevenson, and 12 points from Jason Terry.

Danilo Gallinari led the Knicks with 27 points, Torrey Douglas tallied 22 and Amare Stoudemire had 21 points, but was scoreless in the second half.

Dallas, now 23-1 in games when it scored at least 100 points, won the rebound battle by a whopping 54-34 margin.

The next game for the Mavs is Friday night in Boston before this road trip concludes Saturday night in Charlotte.
