Keep in mind that there are 15 magistrates in the SC and CJ Corona's vote on each case handled by the SC counts only as 1 vote.

I'm glad that Corona did not resign and that he will face the impeachment trial. This is the chance for the people to hear both sides, the prosecutors and Corona's. Maayo ni kay makita nato ang mga arguments and evidences from both sides and we can decide for ourselves on who is telling the truth. I just hope the senator-judges will be impartial.

Following that logic then the Judicial appointments and executive appointments would undergo the same process for appointment--but they are completely different, as acknowledged by constitutionalists. They were never intended to be similar because they are appointments for co-equal branches. For the SC appointments, the JBC presents a list of at least 3 candidates that has been screened by lower institutions to the President for appointment--so a president's selection is limited. On the other hand, in the executive departments, the President can select and nominate anyone, and with consent from the CoA, appoint someone into executive positions. So they we're never meant to be similar in terms of appointment.

I don't know if I agree that PNoy himself is a genius, but the political maneuvering is really something. We've had puppet dictators and puppet regimes before. We've had the likes of Mussolini, Musharraf and, recently, Mubarak...all seen as dictators who obviously had somebody else doing the political maneuvering in the shadows.
