Ako nahibaw-an kay Iloilo -USED- to be the Queen City of the South tungod sa plantations before nila then pagboom sa Tubo sa Negros didto nasad daw. Pag boom sa Industries dire sa Cebu mao na dire na ang last. Ila ingon ang nabilin sa Iloilo ug Negros mao na ang Hambug nalang daw.

historically it was Iloilo because of Queen Regent Maria Cristina of Spain gave Iloilo the honorific title of "La Muy Noble Ciudad" in English most noble city. during American era before WWII, for the 2nd time Iloilo was declared a city by the virtue of the Commonwealth, thus the title the “Queen City of the South” was then made as its official recognition. Post WWII Iloilo's status was stagnated, there are many infrastructures were damaged and the economy status was declining and many problem arose at that time.

while Cebu was doing a great job after the WWII, Cebu strived its best to transformed into modern from being the oldest city founded by the Spaniards 1565, its economy and its infrastructures and governance and etc. was improving even until now. it was not made officially by any decree that Cebu is the queen city of the south. other people will say it is safe for Cebu to claim the title due to the economic status, modernization, employment rate and etc. even you ask anyone about who is the queen city of the south surely they will say it is Cebu.

this is my personal point of view, we, Filipinos are very sensitive about this titles to the extent that we are making our own fellow Filipinos as our enemy just to glorify ourselves. this is not to defend Cebu's title, but let us be open minded that it is just a title or a status symbol but it doesn't mean that we have the license to degrade other neighboring provinces. let us think horizontally not vertically, we are all equal as part of this one nation.
