separate is better...coz that way you get newer batteries...

chargers last for many many years...but people need new batteries for their new flash, new camera, new flashlight, new radio, new toy, new remote, new RC device, new clock...all using the same charger.

if you get a bundled battery with charger, chances are that package has been in shelves for many months and therefore the batteries are considerably older...

just to give you an idea, i used to sell 2 charger bundle for every 1,000 batteries i sell.
and 20% of those that got a charger bundle comeback to complain the included batteries arent performing well as the batteries they got as extras. so i stopped selling bundles. 100% satisfaction since then
