General Summary:
Under general direction of the Mechanical Lead Engineer, designs and develops machinery arrangement plans for offshore drilling modules in compliance with NORSOKS-002 standard and DNV regulations.
Essential Duties and responsibilities:
- Design and develop complete machinery arrangement plans in 2D (using AutoCAD) according with working environment standard NORSOK S-002.
- Developing concept for means of access , maintenance and handling of marine and drilling equipment.
- To be able to create / edit / manipulate 3D model of equipment in Autodesk Inventor software
- To conduct basic fluid transfer calculations – flow balance, pressure loss, thermodynamic balance.
- Required to interact with equipment vendors and follow up with vendor documentation review and handling technical issues towards equipment / systems manufacturer
- Responsible to secure interface with all disciplines which are part of the project (Structure, Piping, Electrical, HVAC, Naval, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Ability to complete tasking on-time with minimal supervision
- Experience from offshore projects – equipment fitting in the Norwegian sector.
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations in the Norwegian sector (NMA, DNV, DSB)
- Ability to read and understand piping P&ID’s, D&ID’s and structural scantling drawings
- Ability to apply critical thinking and problem solving to get past technical issues
- Ability to communicate technical and non-technical topics clearly and professionally
- Good interpersonal skills in order to work in cross-functional teams
