kani murag nindut ni nga pangutana ohh..ako nahibaw-an kay 2 designated area assign , correct me f im wrong ha , basin unya ba ang kalabasan ingun ani..

photog 1 : bai nganu naa man ka dri nga area ?
photog 2 : bati man gud compo/framing sa ako area bro
photog 1 : unya designated area raba ta ani , unsaon naman ni ron naghuot nata ani dri

photog 1 : ahh dli q ana , naa ta regulations nga gisunod .. guard ! ! ! guard ! ! ! naa photogs badlungon dri ohhh

kung naa lng sa designated area per photogs murag mag-ilog unya sa isa ka area nga nindut ang framing/compo unya ang resulta same last year dli ka kita ang mga tao inig sayaw sa contingents kay napuno sa photogs ang palibut

It's really not that feasible to distinguish a pro from an amateur. To reiterate my earlier posts, photography as a profession is not regulated by any governing body here like PMA for medical practitioners, BAR for lawyers, etc. Suffice it is to say, there are no fotogs licensed to practice photography in RP.

For Sinulog purposes it is better to categorize photographers as either a photo contest participant or a non-participant with different registration fees. E.g. P500 for non-participants and P1,000 for participants.

There are fotogs on their own right who want to take pictures only for travel photography purposes or for posterity. They're only here for the duration of the festival and will leave right after. They cannot stay long enough for the results of the photo contests. On the other hand, photo contest participants are usually from here who have all the time in the world to wait for the declaration and awarding of winners.

A question may arise concerning non-participating fotog photos may be used as entry under a name of a photo contest participant registrant. This can be resolved if the registration form can have a field for the serial number of the camera body. Raw files have camera body serial numbers embedded. Hence, it is not difficult to countercheck winning raw file entries from the registration forms.

to clarify somethings:
1. when i said "straight from the horses mouth" <--- saying na cya or cliche... im not saying nga she/he is a horse... hehehe

2. in terms of the judging... dili nalang ko mo care gi unsa na pag judge... There is nothing wrong with the photos and the photographers but how it is being judge... Believe man ko sa winners (some but not all) but wla koy believe sa pama-agi sa pag judge... (i won't expound more... kamo nalang bahala... makita rna nya ninyo kung mu apil mog tan-aw sa judging)

I think this is where the 50 picture limit applies nah.. mas dako (and fair) ang chance sa mga contestants ron.. imagine mag isa ka tao mo submit ug 190 shots compared to one ni submit ug 10 shots.. assume ta same rah ang ilang level of skill in photography.. mas dako gud ang chance sa 190 shots kay sa 10 di buh? meaning dako ang chance karon na halo2x na ang name sa mga finalist.. dili nah parehas na name...

3. base on what ashmae posted: we are charge 1k because we are categorize like those who rented stalls... who joins floats... etc etc...

do u know whats the difference between the photogs and the others nga i apil ta sa category??

WE are not an Earning/Profiting entity... wla man nato gi dala ang name sa atong negosyo... ang kanang uban they are earning, they are comapanies, they are businessmen... ang mamaligya sa stall naa cla profit ma kuha... ang mga companya naay advertising/exposure sa ilang brand...

kita? unsa man imong ma kuha sa imong reg fee? mu kita ka kada access nimo sa abellana? naka advertise ka sa imong photography business? wla... all u get is a tshirt... thats it...

so my point is... dapat we are only charge on what the photocontest can offer... coz we are not earning from the contest.

maayo pa cguro kung naa ka sa grand stand mas nindot pa imong angle didto kesa sa ubos nag nag tapok ang tanan photogs... wla sad koy nakita nga photo nka daug nga gi kuha sa grand stand... photos that win are those naa sa dalan...

I've seen photog on the grand stand... been there myself pero if wa ka tarong na lens.. never mind going there..

4. IF you see or take my post as if it sounded "selfish" then u took it wrong... my point is if mu sugot ta aning ilang pama-agi nga i categorize ta mga mu subidize sa mga out of town then expect to have the regfee multiply again and again year after year and wlay ghapon kay ma kuha as a photog...

for the reason nga mu mahal every year ang plete, ang gasolina, mahal ang costume nila.. etc etc etc...

do u think its fair? those contigents are also there to win... may pa cla gi hatagan pa cla ug kwarta... naa pa clay mas dako nga chance mu daug ug mas dako nga price... comapred the photogs... 1500 participants for 100 thousand pesos...

cla 50 contigents for 1 million pesos... HAHAHAHAHAHHA sugot mo ana

all im asking is a fair price for the reg fee... kay kung di ghapon mu mu reklamo... na ma abot ni ug 5k ang reg fee nya makuha ninyo kay tshirt ra.... hahahahaha

I get the vibe na gi initan gud nimo ang freebie na T-shirt ra gi hatag... I've been very fortunate enough this year to join (shoot) several festivals like Sinulog.. These contingents work hard for their costumes and danced really hard (imagine ikaw sayaw the whole day... rain and/or shine) some gani wai support from their school uban gamay rah kay di ka afford...

I wonder....
try daw calculate based on vortex and ashame's cost sa Sinulog.. if maka abot buh.. like assume ta na 1800 na photog at P1k each that's P1.8M then minus the prize money sa photog + contingent, then ang katong 150k sa contingent (last year there purag 20+ man toh ato ra i.butang ug 20), ilang hotel, food, then sa rent sa SM then sa mga staff sa S.I.

Kadtong daghan kaayog yangongo ayaw na lang ug apil..... If there's a will there's a way as the saying goes so kung di willing arun di maglabad ang ulo ninyo ayaw na lang mo ug apil sa photocontest.

Then during Sinulog Grand Parade ..... we are not focusing only for SINULOG PHOTO CONTEST ......... guys, is it possible nga maka discount ta ani?

like if member ka sa isa ka photography club sa CPA? discount sa local photogs kung baga..

kung pwede, nindot unta if maka hatag sila ug discount to clubs who will bulk register their members. let's say 50 members with 1 time registry given less 10% discount. so maka save lang ug 100 per photog.. dako nana oi..

kana kung pwede. kung dli, nahala padayon nalang. Si Sto. Niño nalang bahala mu bless nato in other ways.
