Nets agree to terms with Lakers G Jordan Farmar
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP)—Guard Jordan Farmar of the NBA champion Lakers has agreed to join the Nets.
New Jersey added another low-profile free agent Sunday after the NBA’s worst team last season, with more than $30 million to spend, struck out in its bid to lure LeBron James(notes), Chris Bosh(notes) or Dwyane Wade(notes).
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Farmar averaged 6.9 points and 2.1 assists in 18.1 minutes in four years with the Lakers.
The agreement is contingent on Farmar passing a physical.
The Nets also have reached deals with center Johan Petro and forward Travis Outlaw.

Celtics eye Josh Howard?
The Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls have shown “serious interest” in free-agent forward Josh Howard, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.
While the Bulls could have the salary-cap space to sign Howard, depending on what happens with their offer sheet to J.J. Redick, the Celtics would need a sign-and-trade to arrange a deal because they have already used their midlevel exception on Jermaine O’Neal.
Howard has yet to receive a contract offer. The Washington Wizards also have some interest in re-signing Howard.

Sources: Jordan holding up Raptors trade
By Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports 1 hour, 18 minutes ago
The sudden reluctance of Charlotte owner Michael Jordan has thrust the proposed Toronto-Charlotte trade into jeopardy, multiple league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Monday night.
“Right now, Michael is having second thoughts,” a source with knowledge of the talks told Yahoo! Sports.
The Bobcats had agreed to trade center Tyson Chandler and forward Boris Diaw to the Raptors for guard Jose Calderon(notes) and forward Reggie Evans(notes). Players had been contacted earlier in the day and told they were traded. Yet now, everyone has been put into a holding pattern. Jordan, sources said, has been hesitant to trade Chandler.
The trade isn’t dead, the sources said, but the two sides will talk again on Tuesday morning and the Raptors will try to push the deal through to completion. Toronto general manager Bryan Colangelo is anxious to complete the trade.
Toronto is only sure it has an agreement to complete a separate trade to send Hedo Turkoglu(notes) to the Phoenix Suns for Leandro Barbosa(notes).
