(UPDATE) Bandits raid villages in Lanao Norte, take at least 12 hostages

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Suspected bandits raided two remote villages and seized at least two dozen people in the province of Lanao del Norte on Tuesday, authorities here said.

At least 15 gunmen reportedly swooped down on the villages of San Roque and Kulasihan in the town of Kolambugan at about 6.30 a.m.

The gunmen were believed to be members of the so-called Tonda Force, a group linked by authorities to the series of cattle rustling and extortion incidents in the province.

Little was known about the group or whether it has links with the rebel group Moro Islamic Liberation Front which is also active in the area.

Other reports said the gunmen also seized several teachers and students from a government-run school in the village of San Roque.

Security forces were tracking down the gunmen and their victims.

Police and military officials gave conflicting figures as to the number of hostages, but one intelligence report said at least 23 members of three families were taken while another report claimed that up to a dozen teachers were abducted.

The motive of the abduction is still unknown. -

You know nah, kontra ang ABS-CBN and Arroyo administration especially with all the fuzz and buzz around especially with the different controversies, etc. lol haha. but don't take it seriously, just my chaos theory and opinion though. haha
