After years of turmoil with the Lakers management, asking for a trade, and facing criticisms, Kobe Bryant now wants to stay as a Laker for the rest of his career.

What more can he ask for? The Lakers management, specifically GM Mitch Kupchack, gave Bryant what he needed and wanted: a good support cast. Kupchack was the mind behind sending Pau Gasol and Trevor Ariza to the Lakers which proved to be very worthy deals for the Lakers cause. The result? The Lakers moved from 7th last season to number 1 seed this season, Bryant winning the MVP award for the first time in his 12-year career, and a possible first championship for Bryant without Shaquille O'Neal and being the leader of the team.

Bryant's relationship with the Lakers management is getting better and no one is pleased more than Kupchack.

"Ten days or so ago, he had a bad shooting game against the Nuggets and he came into the (practice) facility an hour early," he said. "I looked out my (office) window, which overlooks the court, and just watched him shoot for an hour by himself. He just shot and shot and shot. He was soaking wet by the time practice started.
