sheldon has a low end JVC i think. never liked that cam, pareha kay tampus. btw, i'm trying to get him to convince his mother into buying him a dvx100a since he gets his goodies directly from japan, the price difference can be huge. now i can really feel the dvx. hehehe

Mao, na OT ta kadali, na intrigue lang ko sa technique on night shots..
Pero last OT comment... I didn't mean about blurry because out of focus, but blury kay the object/person moved right after the shot was made, and surely it's because i set the shutter speed to a long one to capture some light. I was wondering if using the Leica lens, i don't need the long shutters settings or exposure..Btw, i sometimes don't use flash on night shots because i like the ambiant of a pure night light.

Back to topic... I saw some magazines on digital films, and i noticed most featured cams there were Sony's and Panasonic's. Does this mean Canon is not likely the choice of film makers? So what's the ranking then?
Panasonic - Sony -.... Just askin...

I tried the Canon handycams, and UI'm not always too happy with the end result. Ieven the huge Canon XL2 is such a pain to carry....but it looks cooll though.

most likely, setting the camera to a faster shutter speed will solve the blur problem, but if you want the exposure to be just right then you'll have to have a wide aperture too. so handling the lens properly is a must too. hand vibration might be another problem. pareha to onin111, i dislike those flash systems, they make the shots look so unnatural. theres like a beaming white light suddenly in your pic, its so obvious. but then, you can't blame those photographers since only a few people can really afford lenses like the noctilux @ f/1 or summilux @ f/1.4.

the battle on prosumer camcorders is pretty tight nowadays. i dont know whats really in the indie filmmakers wishlist but at the forefront theres panasonic, sony, jvc and canon. although with the success of the panasonic dvx100, panasonic established a very solid reputation on the market that they never had before.

here's another one, can't get enough of these night shots. heehhe

That's a good one... I see the wide aperture in this pic, hhhmm... So maybe this can be achieved by fast shutter, and longer exposure on non Lieca lenses? Will try..

    Here's a review on sony's prosumer 3CCD camcorder products....

I guess some people hate sony and their marketing/sales strategy...

I still have to check on Panasonic.

With Canon's XL H1, i think it's quite good and the newest in the market...

for the latest gen cameras, Panasonic has the HVX200(as i posted), Canon has XL-H1(as you posted), Sony has two i think, i can only remember the Z1 and then theres JVC with the HD100u.

the JVC is unique, and i think the most expensive of the bunch. its a shoulder mount camera. boasts interchangeable lens. but i've read some manufacturing problems out of the box. some dead pixels and some whatnots that shouldn't be in an almost $9000 camera.

    check www.dvxuser.com

there are specific forums for every camera. very cool.
