MANILA – Businessman Tony Tiu has filed a defamation suit against Senator Antonio Trillanes IV for accusing him of being a dummy of Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Atty. Czarina Quintanilla said Trillanes has damaged the reputation of her client, who is accused of being a dummy of the vice president in order to hide his unexplained wealth.

"Ito ay ikinaso namin dahil po sa sari-saring defamatory statement na ginawa ho ni Senator Trillanes laban sa aming kliyente. Ito po ay mga statements na labas sa kanyang tungkulin bilang senador. Ito po ay may kinalaman sa sinasabi niyang dummy siya ni Vice President Binay," Quintanilla told dzMM.

"Itong mga statement po na ginawa ni Senator Trillanes ay nakaapekto po sa mga kumpanya ni Mr. Tiu kaya po labanan ng prinsipyo ito. Kami po ay naninindigan sa katotohanan. Hindi pwedeng magbitaw ng salita si Sen. Trillanes nang di naririnig ang totoo."

The businessman is seeking P4 million in moral damages, apart from the P500,000 in exemplary damages and P500,000 attorney's fee.

Tiu is the chairman and majority shareholder of AgriNurture Inc. and Greenergy Holdings Inc., both publicly listed corporations.

Folded into Greenergy Holdings Inc. is the Sunchamp Real Estate Development Corp., the operator of Sunchamp Agri-Tourism Park in Rosario, Batangas.

The vast estate in Rosario, Batangas, Binay's critics claim, is not really owned by Tiu but by Binay. – with reports from Pinky Webb, ABS-CBN News; dzMM; ANC

The likes of Trillanes should be defended by the people at all cost for others would become timid enough to do what he did if he would be toppled by these menaces of the country. They are trying to destroy Trillanes in any front they could devise and I think this accusation is one of those.
