Discrimination pure and simple. Additionally what business has government meddling in marriage? Whether they realize it or not what they would be doing is setting a price for Filipinos... as if they were a commodity.

I think the law is to protect our filipina women against these cunning foreigners,
are they taxed to get marry in the Philippines, I guess not.
What the government did is just to ascertain the characters of these foreigners would they become a good husband
or the contrasting one. We really don't know who they really are and they reside on a sovereign country many miles away.

naniguro lang ning goberno nga naay ma padala nga kwarta sa pilipinas ang foreigner. basta ang foreigner maka asawa og taga pilipinas, expected baya na nga maka padala og kwarta para sa tibuok pamilya sa iyang asawa.

I'm pretty sure Filipinos don't need to produce their bank statements to marry in most other countries. I wonder is the government equally concerned about the large number of scammer brides who hookup with foreigners simply to drain them of money or to gain a ticket out the country and a valuable passport? I'm guessing not.

The government pass laws as per the need of its people, let the foreigners do their part to protect theirs. In the first place why marry a filipina, whats the reason behind, they could go to europe and marry a french, an english, or a german woman, or else a woman of the same citizenship. The big question is WHY?.
Most of them is above 50 mostly in their 60's and 70's do they still have the capacity to raise a family?.

Nope, I never heard of a mail order groom in the Philippines, most of the filipinos who married a foreigner is either having a good buisiness within that country or having an excellent job in that country. Of course foreigners should know otherwise their high standards of living do need financial support.

They will be scammed because they are so flaunting enticing people about how rich their country is and how much money they possess. If they are young and showing love towards the filipinas I guess the story might be different. For me they are just old dirty farts who wishes to exploit the situation in the philippines preying with the country's young women. Please extend my middle finger for them.

bottomline.....choose your partners carefully. you don't need stupid laws like this to guide you or protect you. common sense can and will spare you from exploitation (sadly, not everyone has it).

at least i got married before some stupid legislator came up with this kind of bill.
