VECO SHUTS DOWN WORLD CUP EVENT IN TALAMBAN
    PhilBoxing.com
    Fri, 10 Aug 2007

While all lights will be up on Sunday (August 12) for the World Cup of Boxing in California, lights will be all down in Talamban, Cebu, depriving boxing fans the chance to watch their Filipino countrymen fighting for the honor and glory of the Philippines and ironically of Cebu City, including Talamban, Banilad and mountain barangays.

On August 11 (in California, USA), a team of Cebuano boxers will be waging a campaign against Mexicans at the Arco Arena, Sacramento, California. WBO super bantamweight contender Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista (23-0-0, 17KO) will face the hard punches of Daniel Ponce de Leon (31-1-0, 28KO) in the 12-round title card. Southpaw Alex John “Bazooka” Banal (13-0-1, 10KO) of Ermita will be cracking punches for a super flyweight title. Another southpaw Z “The Dream” Gorres (26-2-1, 14KO) of Mandaue City will wage a war on the ring against orthrodox Eric Ortiz (26- 6-1, 17KO) for the super flyweight division.

The Visayan Electric Corporation issued recently a notice of power interruption on August 12 (Sunday) affecting portion of Brgy. Talamban, Brgy. Banilad, and Mountain Barangays. It would be unfortunate if replacement of a 69kV pole and lines becomes more important than joining your fellowmen break sweat and faces in order to win honor to the country and to the city of Cebu. What has become of us?
