The Asian economies combined – both developed and developing – are approaching the economic weight of the European Union and United States combined. Given projected relative growth rates Asia should overtake the EU and US in the near future. The EU and the US combined has declined from 55.8 per cent of the total in 1980 to 37.4 per cent in 2013.

    ASEAN-5
Composed of 5 countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Funny that you believe empty promises mean something more than having nothing at all.

Fact is, after Obama's visit NOBODY is still backing our asses off. The US know it. China knows it. Our government knows it.

You realize that the only thing stopping China or any other foreign power from going on an imperialistic rampage is the knowledge that the US is not going to be happy with them right? Just the threat of US military might is enough to back down every country in the world. When it comes down to it, if a Chinese invasion does happen, do you seriously believe that the US and the world at large is not going to do anything? Seriously? If that is seriously what you believe, then you must be blinding yourself from every every conflict since World War 2. The US has learned that being an isolationist like it was pre-WW2 does not work and produced Hitler. The US has since been proactive in it's dealings with aggressive nations.

So that's why the US was so eager to help Ukraine. . . . ohhh wait!

My point is, as long as there's nothing to gain for, don't expect the kind of backing the guys here are talking about.
You say I may have been blind from every conflict since World War 2. Now, I may not know all the facts but most of the time the US "responded" only when they have something to gain.

I agree though that the only thing stopping China is the US and I'm thankful for that. But that's about it. There was no commitment from the US that they would back us up in times of Military conflict.

Apparently you know nothing of the geopolitical circumstances surrounding Ukraine that you compare it to an invasion of the Philippines by China. You are correct though, you do not know all the facts. You know very little. In fact you believe all out war against Russia over a formerly recent Russian territory would be a justified response to the events in Ukraine. Those who have never had to conduct war or served in the military are always so eager with such things.
