I have been a victim of both telcos. I even made a complained to each of them including the DTI and NTC but no to avail and I have decided to disconnect my internet. Lately those scumbags sends me a demand letter and I responded through their money-making lawyers that I wasn't satisfied with their services. I have the right to choose if I'm not satisfied with the services they gave me and you can sue in court. I have subscribed a 1 mbps but it turns out to be 30 to 100 kbps.

What I did right now is to hack my neighbors pass key and I have 6 wifi connections for FREE.

Then I wonder why the competition is monopolized merely with two opposing parties or perhaps conniving parties?
why is it that Singtel or the likes are not invited to provide better and faster connections which the user badly needs?
Is the situation now actually orchestrated by NTC?
Not orchetrated by NTC. This is what happens when we are under an Oligarchy. Those big companies are the only who provides these services and only owned by the few elite. Competition is almost non-existent.

Only an idiot would believe Bam Aquino. Those telcos give out huge campaign contributions during elections. It is in their best interest to maximize profit while keeping costs down.

All the big telcos in the country can't afford to implement a nationwide fiber optic infrastructure. The cost is simply staggering for a single even for two or three telcos to handle. The philippines does not have lots of submarine cables that offer redundancy and security besides the economic comparative advantage. An average submarine cable will cost around 50,000 USD per mile and no investor is willing to spend that much without a guarantee of a return of at least above 5% or more.

US, has a duopoly I forgot the names of their largest telcos/ISPs but they were given the task to provide fiber optic penetration to the whole population. Unfortunately, even they could not provide high fiber optic penetration compared to that of western europe that liberalized their telecoms sector allowing multiple vendors to participate, hence providing more coverage because of reduced costs and corresponding interconnections.

There could be an implicit way around this but the most explicit way to do it which will also tell the world we have moved on and have matured as a nation would be to amend the constitution to allow this to happen.

para nako.. GREED, naa may upgrade ang atong TELECO co. ang nakaapan.. ganahan cla mobayad og mahal ang clients...
like LTE dapat mopalit kag device worth 4-5k then mo load ka for 1k.. nganong dli man lang ni nila i upgrade like ang Smart bro(ken) 1-1.5 mbps(naa pa juy cap) cya ila lang untang iupgrade.. they just want the consumers to spend that extra 4-5k..

sa PLDT naay fibr in which mahal ang plan.. from 3.5k -20k 8mbps-100mbps.. grabe ka mahal..

ALSO another problem is ang mga ahensya sa gobyerno wala juy pakabana natong mga consumer, moreklamo adto noon laban sa comp. kay panud-an raba kaysa sa consomedor pang snacks ra..

For me there are only three interested parties here:

    1. Telco's
    2. Consumer
    3. Government

    Now who's to blame?

The Telco's for their money-making scheme?

    The consumer for their apathy?

The Government for it's not doing something that their supposed to do?
